I love these books. George Allen England is very good at creating visions in your mind while you're reading.
Sometimes I had a problem with the male character being a male chauvinist pig; but what do you expect from the early 1900s. In fact, it's amazing how close he got to modern day NYC.

Once I got use to the fact that the main characters were from the twenties and not of my time, their speech and thought processes became understandable. There was growth and progress throughout the story, I liked the way the main characters found good or hope where there would not have been any reason to think otherwise. This book is a page-turner and ended much too quickly. Maybe the fact that the stories are short is part of its charm. I finished with a smile and a sigh, happy for the new world without the strife of the old world.
