Michael Holland is probably one of the finest young artists out there today - Gay or Straight. His lyrics are as clever as Cole Porter and as honest as Joni Mitchell (her "A Case of You" is the one cover song he does on this album). Musically he covers nearly every genre here - Tecno Pop, Jazz, Disco, Heartfelt ballad - you name it, he does it, and he does it flawlessly. And if all that weren't enough he's got a tremendous vocal range. I don't always "gush" like this, but this is a man worth gushing over. Buy it. You will NOT regret it.

This CD stays in my player permanently! Michael's incredible vocal range, emotion depth and twisted sense of humor are irresistable. Seeing him live is a joy, as his onstage banter is just as enjoyable as his music. He will go far, and is on the verge of a major breakthrough.....get this CD now, and watch him grow!!!

The variety of the songs that comprise "Darkness Falls" illustrates Michael Holland's amazing songwriting and performing artistry. From the seeming simplicity of "They Used to Call it New Wave," to the fierce wit and poignancy of "Joey Stefano's Dead," to the melancholy beauty and lyricism of "The Mention of You" and "The Haunting and the Need," through to a dynamite and dynamic version of "A Case of You" and the angst and power of "Darknss Falls," this intelligent and passionate singer-songwriter shows off both his lovely voice with its 4-octave range and his performance versatility. He's a fine pianist and guitarist, too. With gorgeous arrangements of his masterful creations, harmonies to make you swoon, melodies you can't get out of your head, lyrics that tell a story, these songs can make you weep or laugh or marvel at their cleverness. I find myself playing this CD over and over again, and I never get sick of it.

I'm a total Michael Holland fangirl. His range is incredible, his lyrics are catchy, and his complex arrangements make my orchestral self very happy.

I found this album in the Advocate in 2001, and bought it. It is amazing. The lyrics, his vocal range, (not to mention the fact that hes quite hot) all tie in to a very sensual, sweet man. Unforunatly I think this was one of his only albums, but I keep on hoping he'll release another CD.

I've been a Michael Holland fan for quite a few years now, and this cd cements what I've always believed...Michael Holland is music's best kept secret!! He gets to the core of a lyric and strips it clean until he gets to all of its emotional content. His version of "A Case of You" makes you forget that Joni Mitchell wrote it, and he steals it away from her! I've hooked at least 5 friends onto Michael's music and his heartfelt singing style, and they are now die-hard fans. So spread the word!! Tell two friends...so they can tell two friends...or better yet, let them hear what they're missing!!

Honest folks, this is something special!! This guy's destined for greatness. Grab this cd before it becomes unavailable after Michael reaches superstardom!!

You will want to listen to it over and over. Michael Holland has a great talent. His voice is rich, his range is amazing. The songs are great. This is NOT a canned, cookie cutter CD where every track sounds the same. The words and the lyrics elicit a range of emotions. Definitely an addition to my favorite CD's list.

When you've heard the first few seconds of his Darkness Falls, you'll know something special is going on. His voice is rich and resonant, as are his arrangements. His songs tug at your heart, because they are filled with his insight into life and love. My favorites...Daddy's Car, The Mention Of You, A Case Of You, Jump For You, and Johnny Black. You'll love this CD. If you get a chance to see him live in concert, go. You will never forget it.

This CD is amazing, it really moved me. Michael has this uncanny way to hit you in the heart. He has seems to know exactly what you've been through and he knows the love, the hate, the fear that we all go through.

I would recommend this CD to anyone who has loved and lost... or even anyone who has loved and won. It's just GREAT!
