Interesting new short story. I'd be willing to chance the next installment to see where the series leads. It had likeable characters that can use more extensive character development in the next book. The only negatives for me were that the writing lagged a bit in places/wasn't very gripping and the ending was so abrupt I was surprised. It was only $1.00, so nothing to lose by reading it. Spoiler alert::if you get irritated with love at first sight/no build up to a relationship, you won't be happy with the romance.

My Thoughts -I admit I am a huge fan of novellas. It's incredibly difficult to create a good back story, develop characters and establish an interesting plot in such a limited amount of pages. A lot of authors will end up overwhelming readers with too much detail or underwhelming them with too few. It's hard to get the balance just right. I think it's a true test of an author's skill to point out all we need to know and successfully deliver a story that resonates with us.

Lorraine Kennedy is one of those skilled authors. This audio book-novella had me from the first couple of minutes as I listened to the narration sample with Nicole entering the room for the first time and catching a glimpse of her future vampire-lover. Nicole is sent to the towns hot spot to locate Alec (the lead vampire in his rock band! And the vampire to whom she tries "not" to fall all over like all of his other 'groupies'. We meet the supporting characters, like Nicole's boss Ethan, who has a dark secret, Nicole's mother, who has an even 'darker' secret and who sheds light on who Nicole 'really is'. It is a clash between the vampires, some who will protect the humans, others who only want to feed and destroy them, and those who want freedom from the vampire curse! You never know who to trust. And those you suspect you should stay far away from, are the ones who you should really keep close to you, and vice versa.

The accident that happened with Nicole's little brother Jay was heart wrenching, and I feel so badly for any person who has experience this type of loss.

Very clever ... the title, "BORN TO DARKNESS" comes from the sisters ... being born into darkness. Listen to this audio, and you will totally figure out the connection. The readers, Destiny Landon & Lee James were great - great chemistry. All characters voices were enjoyable and well done.

An alliance appears to be necessary between species that would typically be enemies in order to survive extinction.

I'm looking for the next audio book to find out more about the sisters born to darkness. this is exciting ......

Beware once you start this series you wont stop! I was so invested in the characters and plot that i lost track of time! Each character has their own story to tell and i just felt that these are great people...Hearts are broke, wounds are made, but you HAVE to read it to know that for that to happen Love was so present. Their is no confusion and the plot will weave you right in! You feel as if you know these people they could be your friends or family....You certainly wont be disappointed!!!

I wish I could clearly describe how this book truly sucked. There was just nothing good or remotely realistic about it. Just like some silly high school girl trying to write a book. All I can say is thank goodness it was only a buck on kindle. If you're still set on trying this book, download a sample first and make sure you really want to waste your time and money.

I'm definitely a fan of SF/Fan, so this is not out of my normal reading material.
I like the story, it's entertaining (albeit short) and is a good escape. However, it needed a better editor -- the spelling, grammar and punctuation mistakes are annoying. As long as you can force yourself to skim over them, it should be an entertaining quick read.

So coming from someone who doesn't actually expect a self published writer to spend upwards of 500 bucks to edit a book they sell for less than $5 I am more than able to look past simple grammatical errors. I used to never review books but I find myself doing it more and more often because I think it takes a special individual to put something they've written out there for all of us to criticize, I do find the use of the wrong word in a given situation a little annoying but that's not what I want to truly review so with that being said I enjoyed this book. I thought the story had a lot of potential and suspect that the author will grow with every installment in the series. I like the characters and liked most of the interaction, I found Nicole's introduction into the vampire world a little odd and I hate instant love but hey I can get past it the story was good and that's what matters, the author didn't stray from what I assume was her initial story line; the ancient vampires hiding something important form the lesser vampires, also I feel like she took a very new stance on the whole vampire existence and I look forward to it being further explored so all in all for a book that was only .99 cents I think it was well worth it and I would absolutely recommend it

I think the storyline has potential. It has all the ingredients of a good series with interesting characters, plenty of action, and romance. Unfortunately the pace is much too fast, leaving plot holes and the feeling that everything is a bit forced. Also the editing is not very good with several easily spotted grammatical errors. Still, for the price it was a enjoyable read while I wait for other books to be released.

This was the most painful thing I have read in a long time. I cant imagine how there are more books in this series! There was no closure on multiple things, not enough background on characters, and the format on the kindle was all over the place. I will admit to being warned by other readers, but figured the price couldnt be beat. Had I spent more money on the book I would have been more than just disappointed.

Thoroughly enjoyable, but could do with deeper character and relationship building, which may have resulted in a satisfying story. Investing in an editor rather than relying on spell check would have given the book a professional finish. Having said that, the tale stirred my curiosity enough to buy Book 2, Night Breed, a Paranormal Romance. This author has potential!
