5.0 out of 5 stars Double Dog Dare You! April 26, 2012
Format:Paperback
Elizabeth John is a consummate horror writer, to which this anthology will attest. I cannot count the number of times I have read one of her genuinely twisted tales and wished secretly to myself that I had written it. She sets the bar for flash fiction incredibly high and then surpasses it with each new thing she writes.

Let me just say, the story "The Falling Sky," alone is worth the cost of this book. This story is without question one of the best horror stories I have ever read anywhere. I will never again look at a grey sky without shivering. It is a tale so sinister and sublime that it will stay with me forever. In "The Vampires that We Know," her modernization of the vampire mythos is so frighteningly real that you will never look at people and their relationships the same way again. And in her tale "The Other Side of the Closet," she takes everything you have ever heard about the monster in the closet and spins it on its ear.

Each story within these pages is a treasure. Their unique perspectives and originality will quite simply leave you open-mouthed in awe. I dare anyone to read this book and not call themselves a fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing April 21, 2012
Format:Paperback
Darkness in a Flash is a well written book of short stories that is filled with suspense. The Vampires that We Know is a great short story that deals with a real terror known to many with an amazing twist that is sure to please.

Modern terrors and monsters lurk in the minds and memories of many people, Elizabeth John has taken seventeen short stories and brought to light the darkness that lives within with this page turning book. If you love reading stories that capture your attention and bring you into the darkness in a flash then this is a must read.

I look forward to reading more from this AMAZING new author!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Darkness To Get Lost In... April 20, 2012
Format:Paperback
It is clear to me that Elizabeth Michaud John is an up and coming author to watch closely and for any who doubt that, then this collection of tales is sure to change your mind.

Darkness...In a Flash is a collection of tales that no true horror fan should pass up. Elizabeth's grasp of fear and suspense is superb and inside these pages there are stories that will chill even the most hardened of readers.

From fresh re-imaginings of classical monsters in pieces like "The Vampires That We Know" to more realistic visions of horror in "The Falling Sky" there is something for everyone here.

Elizabeth's mastery of the dark is incredible and I can't reccomend this book highly enough. As a collection of flash horror it is quite simply one of the best you will find. It is truly a Darkness to get lost in.
