One of the best Regency Romances!, December 15, 1998

This review is from: A Darling Amazon (Mills & Boon Large Print Romances) (Hardcover)
I bought this book in Hawaii just to have something to read while on vacation. I thought it was another typical regency story. What a surprise-- it was wonderful!
Julia is an intelligent girl, who as a very young girl had the misfortune of having a dismal season. She was too young and not ready for society. An incident in her season with Hugh, Lord Rostherne, mortifies and embarrasses Julia. She and her father leave London to live a quiet life. Her father is very ill, and he will leave her a rich woman of indepence but he wants her to be happily settled. To relieve his fears she tells her father she is engaged to Lord Rostherne. Unfortunately, it is published in the Gazette. Lord Rostherne is in need of an heiress to save his beloved home Donyatt. Due to the information leaked to the Gazette, he has lost his chances for such an alliance.
These two characters come together with the notion that marriage would solve both their problems and discover love. This is not your typical "formula" romance.
Buy it, the story will touch an emotional chord.
