Another Miller Great,
This review is from: My Darling Melissa (Mass Market Paperback)
Linda Lael Miller has written another great. With humor, spirit, and romance. In this you get to see what happened after the Happily Ever After Endings of all three of Melissa's brothers's stories as Melissa's own story unwinds.

A Charming Read!,

This is the last book(to date) in the Corbin Series, and I loved it. Melissa Corbing is a runaway bride. She is spirited, full of life and totally turns Quinn Rafferty's life upside down. The book is funny, sad and totally heart warming. A must read for Miller fans and especially if you have read the other three in the Corbin series. I truly hope Ms. Miller will write more books in the Corobin series. This family rocks!

Excellent!,

I have read quiet a few of Linda Lael Miller's books and have enjoyed all of them. But, this one was exceptional. Kept me enticed from the very first page. I highly recommend it. This is the last book in the "Corbin" series, but you do not have to read them before this one, as it stands on its own.

My taste in romance is apparently very different...,

This is my first LLM romance. I was awfully disappointed. I didn't find the humor in this one that others have talked about. I just don't find spoiled, selfish, cruel people humorous. She runs out in the middle of her wedding - w/o so much as telling her family why (leaving them to worry about what happened to her for 4 days); marries a stranger 2 days later; supposedly falls in love with the stranger 2 days after that; then proceeds to treat this man she supposedly loves like [dirt] every time she opens her mouth, embarrasses & humiliates him in front of EVERYONE she possibly can in his own home town! I didn't see a reason for him to fall in love with someone like that.Written in a different style, the story itself could have been entertaining & interesting. Quinn made a great hero & definitely deserved a much more admirable heroine.

Not Miller's best,

It's obvious that this is one of Miller's earlier books. She's come a long way since then. Also obvious that this is the last of a series. Far too many cameos by characters that don't add to the plot of this book.

Did not live up to her other books!,

I was a huge fan of the Rose, Emma, and Lily books and bought this book immediately when I saw she had a new one out. I was very disappointed. She doesn't take the time to get you interested in the character, everyone has poor character development which makes it hard to feel for any of them or get really involved, and she tries to throw way too many side issues/problems into the plot at once. I tried to stay with the book thinking I would get into it more, but I didn't. There is little build up for the emotional scenes and they are written with so many poetry sounding phrases that it sounds really cheesy, fake, and hurried. To me, it reads like she needed to put out another book and did this half job to get it out, nothing more.

I really enjoyed reading My darling Melissa which was the last in a series of books about the Corbin family of Fort Hastings, Washington Territory in the late 1800's about the Corbin family of 3 brothers--Adam, the doctor; Jeff, the sea captain; and Keith, the Methodist minister. Melissa is their sister and the youngest in the family who runs away from her wedding and is pulled aboard a plush railroad car by Quinn Rafferty leaving Port Hastings. She is determined to make her own way in the world without any help from her brothers or Quinn. The predicaments she becomes involved in with Quinn are really quite comical and thoroughly enjoyable reading. The book is short enough to read in one sitting.

First off, I usually loved Linda Lael Miller's books & in fact own most of them if not all. But, this is not one I'm going to keep. Unlike her other books in this series this book makes me grind my teeth in frustration over such a vain, silly, unthinking heroine who goes off half-cocked at every turn. Spent most of book amazed that the hero kept coming back for more, ugh. The Stone Creek series, the Orphan Train trilogy, The Outlaw, The Man From Stone Creek - all these books had depth and plots that were rich and warm. I tried to give it 3 stars but just couldn't. She is so much better than this.

Linda Lael Miller is the BEST when it comes to romance novels. I now have approximately 40 of her books and I will buy more.
