5.0 out of 5 stars Best Darn Socks Ever
Bought these as a Christmas gift for my husband. He hunts and hikes a lot. I "borrowed" them for a hiking trip of my own. Spent several hours outdoors in low 30 degree weather and never once had cold feet! Love these socks. I'm definitely going to get some of my own.

3.0 out of 5 stars ONE PAIR o' SOCKS
Since the item info does not specify, and the price varies by color and size - my order was ONE PAIR.

(Note: Star rating does not relate to quality of item. To be given as a gift, so I can't comment on anything else regarding the item at this time.)

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent for Diabetics and Those with Athlete's Foot, June 16, 2009

I have diabetes and need a snug fitting sock. I also have athlete's foot. Merino wool breathes and wicks moisture away from the foot which is critical to cure athlete's foot (along with fungal cream). My podiatrist likes this sock. My foot size is 13 wide and I wear an XL sock. Darn Tough Merino Wool socks saved my feet.

Very comfortable. I have a small foot. Most socks seem too large, even when said to fit my size. These are right on. I bought them based on a recommendation from a friend, who tells me that they last for years.

Darn Tough Merino Wool Boot Socks are a well-designed and carefully crafted labor of love. If you're tired of "Made in China" junk that falls apart after one season, spend the extra few dollars for an item that will give you years - or even decades - of wear. I've never encountered anyone who had a bad thing to say about Darn Tough socks.

One word of caution -- while some reviewers seem to have a "true to size" experience, I didn't: I wear a size 6 (women's) normal width shoe, and the small socks I ordered through Amazon wouldn't even have fit half my foot -- the mediums I exchanged them for fit, snugly. I don't know if these will loosen up a bit over time as socks sometimes do, but you may want to consider ordering a size up.

Bought these socks to wear while shoveling. I was very surprised at how warm they keep my feet and that they didn't make my feet too hot or sweaty. I guess I'll need to buy a few more pairs.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice sock, November 30, 2008

I thought they would stay up better and truly be over the calf. I know I have large legs and that is why I ordered extra large. They still want to ride down. However, this is one comfotable sock.

I bought a pair of Darn Tough boot socks three years ago. They certainly live up to their name. Since then I have purchased over a dozen pairs of different weights and lengths. I travelled to Japan and China during the summer months and the socks kept my feet comfortable, dry and suprisingly cool. I recently bought pairs for my children who love them above all other socks in the drawer.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm a convert, November 25, 2011
This review is from: Darn Tough Vermont Merino Wool Boot Cushion Sock (Apparel)
I have a shelf full of those ubiquitous socks that are supposed to be Smart, accumulated over several winters. They may be Smart, but they make me feel Dumb. The ones I've worn the most are wearing thin at the ankles and other pressure points. So this year I decided to try Darn Tough. These socks are not a fleeting fashion. They come with a lifetime guarantee.

Darn Tough socks are made in Vermont, and have been for decades. This means a lot to me. I'm always looking for ways to support U.S. manufacturers.

I'm quite happy with the design of these socks. I go for quiet combinations of black and gray, brown and green. I wear a size 8 shoe, and the medium Darn Tough sock seems to fit me perfectly.

My husband has also converted. He too prefers his wool socks without holes. Since he's very fashion conscious, his switch to Darn Tough is a testimony to their good looks.

Love them so much, I bought another pair after the first pair, and will keep replacing my socks with Darn Tough one at a time.

These socks are more padded on the bottom than the top. They are warm, but not overly warm. A bit too warm for summer use, but still good for hiking in warm weather, since they wick away moisture. They dry quickly too.

The extra thickness around the ankle area is great for a little extra padding when wearing boots.

Not as thick as Smart Wool, not as soft as Icebreaker socks, but they are guaranteed to last longer, period. My Icebreaker socks pill up and shed like crazy, they're going to get holes in them much sooner than my Darn Tough socks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Expensive but..., October 1, 2010

they are of very good quality. Do make my feet sweat slight during the warmer weather...should be fine once the weather cools down...very comfortable. Since I got my 1st Carhartt socks a few years ago, I finally figured out that a good sock will out last a cheapo pair 3 to 1. Personally, these socks seem to be a little to warm the the summer months.
