Product Description

Grab your light saber, it's Darth Vader! This fun 3-D pinata is ready to be filled with treats and toys. Darth Vader Pull String Pinata is a great party activity and doubles as a fun decoration. Our Vader Pinata is easy to use, measures approximately 10/ 1/2" tall and 10 1/2" wide from shoulder to shoulder and features green, black and red ribbons for pulling. Fill with treats of choice (not included) such as wrapped candies or small soft toys, and hang from a sturdy support with a strong rope. Guests take turns pulling ribbons until one ribbon opens the hidden door and releases the goodies. Our pull string pinata is a fun and safe alternative to traditional pinatas.

FUN? 5 stars... Because, hey, a Darth Vader head pinata is pretty friggin' cool.
EDUCATIONAL? 3 Stars... While pinatas are kind of no-brainers, it wouldn't be fair to give it 1 star. There is some strategy involved to hit the sweet spot after all.
DURABILITY? 1 Star... See below.

This product looked very cool before we bought it and when it arrived. Now granted, pinatas are no long-term investment, but this one soon proved to be a complete waste of money. Allow me to explain.

The problem with this particular pinata is that it's designed in two different pieces, the face mask and the top helmet... just like in the movies. While the design is about as authentic as you can get for a mere pinata, the flaw therein lies with the way the two pieces are connected. It appears as if a few dabs of glue were the cockamamie solution that the designers brainstormed upon its construction.

The result... the pinata fell apart after a few gentle taps by a couple of toddlers... and I'm not exaggerating in the least. It didn't break open with a grand spectacle of raining candy and toys (not included), but rather, the mask portion simple plummeted to the ground much to the astonishment of everyone at the party. What a disappointment to my son (the birthday boy), the other kids (who didn't even get a chance to take a swing at it), and me (the sucker who bought it.)

Fix the problem connecting the two parts and this would be a 5-Star product.

This pinata looks great and is very durable. In fact, too durable. When the trap door opened almost none of the candy came out - the door was too small. My husband and the kids ended up taking light sabers, baseball bats, and sticks to it anyway - turning it into more of a traditional pinata. Once all the candy came out the kids turned the pinata into a darth vader mask for the rest of the party - taking turns wearing it. It actually turned into a great pinata - I just would forget the pull string idea and just use it as a normal pinata!

Birthday Party Fun1 December 15, 2008

I bought this for my 7 year old Godson's birthday party. He and his friends really like Star Wars, and what 7 year old wouldn't enjoy a pinata! It was a lot of fun to see how much the kids enjoyed the whole experience.
