Disappointing mastering,

Due to a technical defect during mastering, this DVD(a verbatim transfer of the old RCA/Columbia Pictures VHS program) clips off the start of the song "Maneater".Hold off on buying this 7-song collection, because BMG may someday be releasing a more extensive Hall & Oates video collection on DVD.Legal problems concerning Lightyear Entertainment's claim of a long-term license on the 7 videos included in "7 Big Ones" have BMG's DVD on indefinite hold.

Well, some of the videos on the DVD were not that great of quality and the sound has a bit muffled, but as it's Hall & Oates, we can forgive and forget heheh.Still worth the buy as it's some of the greatest hits they had in their 80s...

I particularly liked the videos for "Say It Isn't So", and "One On One", though I'm not sure about the settings for the other 5 videos, I would call them 'fair'. Nice to see Hall & Oates in their earlier days, and how videos and their music have changed, for the better!

This DVD could have been so much, but instead we got so little. No imagination what so ever has gone into this release, no extras - nothin'! Of course the songs are great and the videos have a certain place in our hearts, but after 20 years we all had those on VHS somewhere in the collection anyway - so what is the point of this DVD ? I have added an extra star because the version of Familiy Man is the longer one as apposed the the single release.

Don't have it on DVD, yet!,

It's a compilation of their greatest hits from the '80's. But you can see the progression of their videos. Songs like "Private Eyes" that were shot against a black screen to the theatrics of "Adult Education" show how the video has changed in a span of only two years! If you're a die-hard fan like me, this is a great way to start a video collection!

Waste of Money,

As a huge H & O fan, I was so excited to see that this video collection was being released on DVD. As most people would anticipate great audio and visual quality, this reissue was very disappointing. The quality was so grainy that it was almost painful to watch. I gave this DVD 3 stars only because anything with Daryl and John deserves some recognition.

"7 Grainy Ones": Atrocious DVD,

AVOID THIS! The source material for this DVD was clearly VHS tape, as the audio and video quality is beyond substandard. It's awful enough to release a set this skimpy when Hall & Oates have a vast video catalog to draw from. It's downright criminal when the 7 videos shown look and sound as bad as they do. Hopefully, RCA (which owns the masters) will see to it to release a comprehensive Best Of career set of H&O, the best-selling duo in rock history. I own 400+ DVDs and have never seen anything this bad. Laserlight, you're light years behind the technological curve.

One of my all-time favorite VHS tapes on DVD. If you have the VHS version and want to upgrade to DVD, you'll be happy with this. If you remember the old Hall and Oates videos and want to again feel the way they made you feel, this DVD will do it for you! An amazing half hour for any Hall and Oates fan.

I found this DVD at Goodwill over the weekend for 99 cents - so it was quite a bargain for me!
All the hits I remember from MTV's good ol' days - when they actually played videos! A keeper! A++ |
