5.0 out of 5 stars Dietrich's own selection of songs from Berlin, August 9, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Das War Mein Milljoh (Audio CD)
This is a record Dietrich made in Germany 1965. It's "altberliner Lieder" - songs from and about her birthtown Berlin, in the beginning of 20:th century. The songs are: "Solang noch untern Linden", "Du hast ja keine ahnung wie schoen du bist Berlin", "Durch Berlin fliesst immer noch die Spree" (Through Berlin floats still die Spree. The river in central Berlin is called Spree), "Mit dir, mit dir da moecht ich Sonntags angeln gehn" (With you, with you I will go fishing on Sunday), "Nach meine Beene ist ja ganz Berlin verruckt" (The whole city Berlin is just crazy over my legs), "Ja, das haben die Maedchen so gerne", "Wenn ein Maedel einen Herrn hat", "Lieber Leierkastenmann", "Das war in Schoeneberg" (Dietrich was born in the part of Berlin who is called Schoeneberg), "Untern Linden, untern Linden", "Das war sein Milljoeh", "Wenn du einmal eine Braut hast", "Es gibt in leben manchmal Momente", "Wo hast du nur die schoenen blauen Augen her", "Das ist Berlin wie's weint, das ist Berlin wie's lacht" (It's Berlin who cries, it's Berlin who laughs), "Solang noch untern Linden". In the end of Maximilian Schells documentary "Marlene" is Dietrich singing some of these songs. She says: "That was my best record".
