Dash ROCKS!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Dash Rip Rock's Gold Record (Audio CD)
Dash Rip Rock is the coolest, baddest true rock 'n' roll band around. Their live shows are unrivalled. If you're sick of all the generic angst-ridden sounds-the-same X-games teeny-bopper pretend rock 'n' roll out there, Dash Rip Rock is your salvation. You should buy all Dash's albums if you know what's good for you, but the Gold Record is a great primer for the uninitiated.

If you don't already know, I can't do much for you. All I can say is this is one of the single most brilliant bands ever. They rank up there with VU and Replacements and Whiskeytown. If you disagree you must see them live and you will understand.

I first saw these madmen around Austin in the mid-80's and frankly I'm surprised at their stamina. They gave one of the best live shows I've ever seen and they were consistent. Where else can you see a drummer hock a loogie to the rafters and catch it again, without missing a beat?I saw them again at the Back Room a year or so ago and detected a subtle change, more along the lines of clean pop soundz, but they still rocked out their older stuff. The Solid Gold release has some of their earlier songs as well as a couple of catchy new ones. See them live, then buy the music, or vice versa. |
