Firstly, you can not underestimate the sheer size and presence of this machine. It is huge. You will need movers to get it on the counter. The 2.25 HP competition mill requires a NASCAR license to operate. The machine will scare small children and give them nightmares. I had to get my binky out of storage.

You will need a step ladder to add ingredients through the lid. It makes everything else in your kitchen look like a scene from Honey, I Shrunk The Kitchen Except For The Blender. Did I say it was big? Rather.

I fix a protein shake every day with lots of ice and frozen fruit. So far it pulverizes everything posthaste into a creamy slurry. Cool. But I had to deduct one star for its massive, counter stealing girth. Then I added a star back for the ridiculous audacity if its creator.

Comes with a booklet on how to safely lift heavy loads and a bumper sticker that says My Other Car Is Smaller Than My Blender. Not recommended for apartment dwellers or mobile homes.

House guests become disoriented and confused when they figure out what it is. Entertaining and worth the price just for the thrills.

****07-24-14 UPDATE****
After 6 months of daily use to make smoothies and curry paste, the motor smoked because the bearing of the jar sized. I noticed that the ball bearing (normally sealed) started leaking grease outside (not inside) the unit. The ball bearings failed and the motor smoked. The motor however still works as the auto shut off function did work. I suspect that the belt coupled with the motor likely took some abuse. I am trying to get a new unit from Dash. Will keep you guys updated.

Original review
I have used this blender every day two times a day for blending smoothies and curry mixes. It seems to be really well made and thought. For a small price (compared to the competition), it has a solid motor and performances as well as variable speed and timer. I am not a huge fan of the electronic control dial as I am pretty sure that this is prone to fail (if it does fail). Time will tell.

Smoothies come out very smooth using the dedicated program. The blending bowl is very easy to remove and to set back onto its base. The blades are Japanese made and they mix very well the ingredients creating a nice vortex. I use very large chunks of fruits and the blender swallows them with no problem. Flax, chia, almond seed are blended really smooth.

Sorbet using full sized ice cubs and your choice of natural juice come out nice and quick.

Curry blend into a smooth paste very quick.

I made almond powder (mixed with confection sugar) with the blender to make frangipane stuffing for King Cakes.

The blending jar is a bit tall but it helps creating a nice vortex. It is well engineered. The blades are encapsulated into a very solid, machined stainless steel base. The sealed ball bearings are really high quality.

I have the Dasn and the Vitamix and the Dash is better in my opinion. My Vita Mix was going downhill after eight years and rather than buying another Vita Mix blender I researched the Dash blender and I just love it. It makes better smoothies and better soups, and all in all I am very happy with my selection.

This is a powerful machine, does a great job. Two caveats: it weighs a ton, and there's no way to disassemble the blade from the container; the only way to clean it is to fill it with soapy water and run it for a few seconds.
