I have been waiting for this for a long time! I was so excited to get this book today. I have already looked through and this is absolutely my favorite cookbook. Her website is my go to for all recipes and there are exciting new recipes in this book! She does an amazing job at making comfort food healthy. I have read other reviews saying that this is not 100% clean (citing jarred spaghetti sauce), but as I am knew to "clean eating", being 100% clean is not my goal. My goal is to eat as clean as I can with out stressing, and it still fit in our lifestyle. I need cooking to be easy, quick, use things I already have in my kitchen, and delicious. This book does that for me!

I have been making her protein shake recipes every morning for a few months now and I love them all, so I knew I had to get this cookbook!

I am a little disappointed that these recipes are on her blog BUT you have to be a paid subscriber to view most of them....and then you would have to print them out and store them somehow....so yeah, buy the book!

Average - some dishes were good, others not so good. Positives - A very pretty cookbook. Nice pictures. She uses some of the same ingrediants throughout the cookbook. For example, oatmeal, mozeralla cheese, oats, mini chocolate chips, egg whites, protein powder. whole wheat wraps. I love this because I'm not buying a special ingrediant for one recipe, then another expensive ingrediant for another recipe, etc. Some recipes that at least one family member enjoyed were - White Chicken Enchilada Bake and Mini Mexican Pizzas. (I cannot believe my kids whole wheat tortillas for the pizzas! We did not enjoy Chicken Pot Pie Muffins or Cheeseburger Lettuce Wraps. Negatives - She suggests whole wheat pasta, however, the pictures displayed were of a a very white pasta. I doubt that is whole wheat pasta. Also, I love that she uses mini chocolate chips in many recipes, usually using 2 tablespoons worth. However, in the pictures, there is waaaaay more chocolate chips than she states in the recipe. Lastly, there could have been better editing. For example, including the consistancy of the cookie dough and the actual measurement of the cut whole wheat tortillas, rather than indicating cutting them with a "medium glass."

I'm going to keep the cooking book, but I'm glad I used Amazon's used book sales vs buying brand new.

I have quite a few picky eaters in my house. I won't name names but lets just say that mealtime is a challenge for me daily! I was excited when I read the back of Dashing Dish before getting into it to see things like Macaroni and Cheese that my kids actually eat were listed! A healthy way to make something they already love? Yes please!

The other word that had me excited to dive into this cookbook was simple. When I am looking at recipes, sometimes I stop reading when I see ten plus ingredients! I am a mother of three very busy little children. I NEED simple meals to prepare. Sometimes that means sacrificing taste or even their nutritional value. It's really hard to get simple and nutritious meals.

This book has 100 recipes for clean eating. I like that it's a hardback book because something like a cookbook that gets repeated use needs to be! I really like that there's a fully page illustration for each and every recipe! I have never understood cookbooks that don't show a picture of everything. They just pick and choose which ones to show pictures of and those are the only ones I usually end up trying. A picture really is worth a thousand words, especially when it comes to food!

The only thing I would change regarding the aesthetics of the book is the pages. I like cookbooks that have slick pages so that if, and when, you splatter food on them, you can wipe them off!

Now back to the food! I did try a few of the recipes and was really pleased with the results. I really liked the overnight french toast bake! Doing something the night before and having it ready to bake in the morning really simplifies things.

I'm always looking for new, healthy, clean eating recipes to add to my collection. Each of the recipes in this cookbook features a beautiful, full color photograph. (Note: I had to laugh at the fact that the recipe for a cake batter protein shake featured a shake covered with non-pareils sprinkles as it looked beautiful but didn't exactly fit with the sugar-free, clean eating theme.)

Many of the recipes featured in this book were similar to ones that I already make, but I really liked the fact that the recipes were either naturally gluten free or easy to convert to being gluten free. She uses oat flour in her recipes which I like. The recipes that I tested tasted really good.

There were a few of things that I didn't like. She uses low-fat, light, reduced-fat, and non-fat dairy ingredients. We only use full fat dairy at our house. She also states that butter is an unhealthy fat which is not something with which I agree. For the most part, she only uses egg whites which is something that I prefer not to do when possible. Obviously, the dairy ingredients are no big deal as I can just substitute what we normally use. The egg whites are a little more complicated.

Katie includes nutritional information for each of the recipes. The book begins with a guide to healthy, clean eating for those who aren't familiar with clean eating. Katie does a wonderful job laying everything out for her readers. While I may not always agree with her definition of clean eating, she does explain her way of thinking well. (Most people I know don't consider things like lunch meat part of clean eating.)

I had mixed feelings about the book as it had some highs and lows. Ultimately, it all depends on your idea of clean eating and what you're looking for in a recipe book. I rate this book 3.5 stars.
