Excellent book for data structures using java,
By
This review is from: Data Structures and Algorithms in Java (Hardcover)
I was looking for a latest edition of a book on data structures using Java. Lafore, Martin etc. are good texts but since collection API has introduced in jdk 1.2, those books seems to be obsolete. This book discusses new API and classes provided by java environment, so we need not to be bogged down by writing the unnecessary code. I feel this book is good for professionals in the industry as well as students of computer science. Algorithms are dealt with in detail with all the mathematical proofs involved, regarding efficiency and complexity. Various data structures are discussed with sufficient number of examples. Its a language specific book on data structures and algorithms, so if you are looking for a general book ar if you are working with any other language you will be dissappointed but surely a good book for java programming language.

java for the computer scientist,
This review is from: Data Structures and Algorithms in Java, Second Edition (Hardcover)
Most texts on Java Collections describe data structures and their performance without delving into the internals- this author has done a great job in that sense. This book may not be for folks concerned largely with churning out vanilla code. However, for those interested in learning the language from a computing science standpoint, this is your book.

Got it for my algorithms class. I'm not the best student so don't take my word for this to the letter. I actually find this book very informative. Helps me a lot to keep up in class. Now I can ask questions that doesn't make me look like an idiot. But to be honest I can't sit down and read the book for an hour. It's a tad bit on the boring side. still good book regardless

It's an excelent book and i'd buy it again. Very useful to students in computer science. The author explains in detail each algorithm and it could be translated to other languages.
