This worked great for running AV to my flat screen wall mounted TV. I liked the 3-gang a little better than a 2 as I was able to open a bigger hole to see what was going on in the wall. I mounted my TV over a direct vent fireplace and this three gang allowed me to make sure I was strapped to a stud and greater than 2 feet in all directions from the fireplace. Overall it worked great. I was able to get my arm in the wall and move around much better than a 2-gang would have let me.

For those that were talking about how to mount this to the wall, I think people don't realize that you should be using a mounting bracket with these. These are intended to go over a 3-gang box or low voltage mounting plate. If you don't have one, I picked up one and it mounted right to the drywall with ease and you don't have to worry about pulling it out. The reason it comes with the "flat screws like a light switch" as one reviewer put it is because it's designed to be installed like a light switch, NOT directly into drywall.

The only downside to be aware of is this does open up a large hole in the wall. Make sure you aren't creating a huge draft situation. I used a little cotton insulation (I would advise against fiberglass since it's exposed) and it stopped the draft. If you're worried, light a match and blow it out right in front of the plate, if the smoke goes straight up, you're good.

Great plate - results in a professional looking install. Used several of these plates. One behind wall mounted definitive technology surround sound speaker, and one behind game room bar where AV receivers are located. Plate is large - enabling us to pull surround sound that included 10 monster wall rated audio cables, HDMI from wall mounted flat panel display back to receiver station. Had enough room left over in plate to pull Directv dual cables thru to receiver as well.
When you order this make sure you have a wall box to mount to. We bought a old work 3 gang box from local hardware store. Cut hole in the drywall mounted gang box. Piece of cake!

The plate did exactly what I needed it to do. The design on the on the other hand could be re-designed. The holes where the screws attach the plate to the wall are placed too close to where you will have to make cuts in your drywall. I thought that I was being very careful while cutting the hole in the wall and still ended up only being able to attach 3 of the screws. Take your time cutting the drywall and you should be all set. Looks great in the wall.

I purchased this cable plate to hide the multiple cables going from my surround sound system up to a new 60 inch plasma. Plenty of room for all the cables from the PS3, HTIB, etc.

Worked perfectly for my behind the wall wire routing! Please get the mounting bracket if you want a pain free install!

Local shops and electricians who run cable all day long didnt even know this exsisted...

I have purchsed 3 of these in total. They look great and were very easy to install directly onto the drywall. I wished they had come with small drywall screws or wood screws. They came with the type of screws that are used in junction boxes, light switches boxes; that is no point at the end of the screw. Took off one star for that. Would buy again.

These triple gang drop cable plates are hard to find. Price is right and looks amazing. Only thing is triple gang low voltage "old work" boxes are hard to find. If you are retrofitting this plate into an existing wall (after drywall is up) i'd recommend buying the "Old work" box on Amazon with this wall plate. I had to modify an "old work" electrical (closed back) box to get this to work because of the scoop in the back, which worked fine just a hassle. Or another option would be to use wall anchors, but that would require more work and is tedious with the screw holes being so close to the opening.

we ordered two of these months ago and they are a really great product. however, our second order from smarthome did not arrive (even though it says it was delivered). i haven't heard back from smarthome after initial inquiries, which is really too bad because i would have ordered from them again!
