4.0 out of 5 stars Good budget set
I have wired most of my house with new phone and ethernet cabling. This set performs fine. No surprises. The punch down tool is a must-have for terminating into Leviton Quickports (as it punches down and trims the wire simultaneously). There are more professional tools out there, but this set has been great for do-it-yourself networking. And I don't think the network...

3.0 out of 5 stars Great starter kit.
This kit as all you need to start terminating RJ-11/45 cables. Punchdown tool is alright as a spare. Cable cutter is great with lots of leverage. Cable stripper works very well. Package works well for the spare tool box or for remote sites that get little use. For larger jobs and constant use, you may need more expensive and durable tools. For home use or light use, this...

The punch down tool is a must-have for terminating into Leviton Quickports (as it punches down and trims the wire simultaneously). There are more professional tools out there, but this set has been great for do-it-yourself networking. And I don't think the network is any worse for it; everything is running at gigabit/second. Amazon's $40 price is good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for making ethernet cables, July 14, 2009

I needed to make some ethernet cables, and this tool set made it super easy -- even includes the wiring diagram so you know exactly which order to put the wires in before crimping. The only thing I'd change about this set is to include an impact punchdown tool. I was hoping to use the included tool to do some telephone crossconnect wiring, but without the impact functionality, this tool didn't work for me. Still, the overall set is great and the quality of the tools is good. I'd buy it again if I needed a stripper and crimper.

For home use or light use, this i the perfect kit to buy. Price makes it wise to get all items together. Buy more connectors and get to work. Blue color is also better to differentiate from the "Fluke" blue and yellow look of everything these days. Low price, decent build quality and value. Buy this for cable making at home or for the LAN party.

Bait and Switch!!! The one in the photo is not the one you will get!!! The one in the photo has the better 110 Punchdown tool that you can replace the tip when it gets dull #70012. You get the non replacable one #70034.
They should update this photo. Damn misleading!!!!!

2.0 out of 5 stars It's not what is pictured/described, September 30, 2011

This review is from: DataShark 70016 Network Bundle with Universal Stripper, All-in-One Data/Phone Tool, Non-Impact 110 Punchdown tool, and 10 RJ11 Plugs (Tools & Home Improvement)
This is indeed #70016. However what I got is not what is pictured! The punch tool is not the model where you can replace the blade. And they only gave me 10 RJ45s. The promised 10 RJ11s are not in there.

I'll raise it one star if Amazon rectifies this situation quickly. I have no reason to believe they won't*

However, you're better off getting this 70007 package: Paladin Tools 70007 Complete Network Tool Kit It's cheaper and has the same exact tools as the #70016 does now and it comes with the handy case.

*Update: Amazon did indeed take care of me, so 2 stars. You're better off getting 70007 instead, though.
