Very easy to install.

I bought this recessed plate to hide all wires, and power outlet behind my flat screen in conduction with a very slim mount TV.

This is a really great product for clean looking wall mounted TV installations -- just make sure you have the room for it.

I bought two of these. One to go behind my LCD TV and one to go next to my media center where all of my home theater components are. This was exactly what I needed as it is flush with the wall, includes 2 power outlets, and an amply sized bulk-wire hole into which I can feed all of my home theater wires. The only downside to this thing is the build quality of the screw/flaps that hold it onto the wall. There are 4 of them and they are made of a cheap/brittle/flemsy/fragile plastic that will break EASILY if you overtighten. The thing is, I tightened very carefully with a hand screwdriver and I still ended up breaking several of them. I ended up going to the hardware store to buy some replacement flaps and got it working... but for $25 per wall plate you would think it would have been a lot more sturdy.

If it weren't for the flaps I would have given a 5/5... Too bad :(

A concern was all the reviews talking of the cheap plastic tabs on the brackets breaking off, the unit I received in Aug 2013 had all metal tabs, which seem quite sturdy.

Let me say first off there are some misconceptions about this plate based on the "most helpful" reviews that are older:

- The locking tabs are made out of metal now and are no longer plastic
- The plate itself is made out of a very sturdy plastic and does not feel cheap
- You can install this on an outer wall that has insulation, just takes a bit of work
- No issues with crosstalk/interference from low and high voltage wiring using standard shielded cabling (ran parallel)

I used this for wall mounted TV and it worked great. I ran the following wires through the opening with room to spare:

- HDMI x2
- Optical
- Component A/V
- IR Extender (1/8" style cabling, similar to what is used for headphones)
- Wii sensor bar extender cable
- 16 gauge speaker wire

I would recommend changing the outlet with a Leviton surge protected outlet (or similar product) if you do not have another option for surge protection, that is, an option that won't leave your setup looking like crap. You will need roughly 7 1/4 and 7 3/8" rectangular (not a perfect square) cut out based on template, but I would plan on 8 inches plus a few more inches on the electrical receptacle side as it goes into the wall at an angle.

I really hate seeing this product getting stars knocked off of it because it is "to big" and the buyer didn't provision correctly to ensure it would fit into the allotted space. This is a really great product for clean looking wall mounted TV installations -- just make sure you have the room for it.

I got an ultra low profile wall mount for my LG 55LW5600 TV and first purchased a standard straight recessed power outlet, due to the large plug on the TV the recess was not enough for the TV to sit flush to the wall. This outlet (although it needs a larger hole in the wall) allows the plug to sit totally recessed into the wall so that the TV can sit very close to the wall. As others have mentioned the tabs are fragile but I was careful with them and it was just fine.

Does the job, very nice way to stay organized. I like the big size as it allows you to put your small child in the wall to retrieve the wires, not really but it does give you ample room to route cables.

The design of the product works well for a recessed application, however the clips on the back that grip the wall to hold it in place are made of a soft plastic. I used a screwdriver by hand to tighten the clips and I broke one and bent the other three. I didn't use the outlet that came with this kit. I replaced it with a surge protected outlet.
This product would be much better if the clips were made of a stiffer plastic and came with a surge protected outlet.

I was surprised at the size (it is large), since I did not pay much attention to it when ordering. Installation is easy but you need to install it away from a stud the way the locking ears work. Nicely made, outlet is good, construction and finish are great.
