This review is from: Datatype-Generic Programming: International Spring School, SSDGP 2006, Nottingham, UK, April 24-27, 2006, Revised Lectures (Lecture Notes in Computer ... Computer Science and General Issues) (Paperback)
The articles in the book are well done and complete, and explore an interesting topic area. They are extended versions of papers from the Summer School sessions, and integrate well many previous papers in the area of generics and generic programming methods. I was particularly interested in the parts relating these methods to standard GOF design patterns. The papers will be pretty abstract unless you have some familiarity with functional programming notations and types. The only thing I'd note is that most of the main papers that I was interested in are available online, although it took some searching to find them. (Look for J. Gibbons publications page.) |
