4.0 out of 5 stars Hot but the missing links are painfully obvious
The Arsonists have been one of my favorite groups for a long time. they enjoyed somewhat more commercial success than some of their other "underground" counterparts, yet still managed to walk the fine line between the two without crossing over. 3.0 out of 5 stars Decent, but not great
I just barely went out and bought this album after hearing so many good things about it, and it was decent: but, definitely not as good as "As The World Burns."

The Arsonists have been one of my favorite groups for a long time. they enjoyed somewhat more commercial success than some of their other "underground" counterparts, yet still managed to walk the fine line between the two without crossing over. With that said, Date of Birth is just about as tight as it could have been with two of the strongest members (freestyle and D-Stroy) gone. So some of the lyrical prowess is absent this time around, but the remaining Arsonists still manage to hold together that head noddin flavor we all have been missin since "As the World Burns." So go out and cop the album and pray that there wont be a reunion because as the beatnuts would say, "Se Acabo!" for a lot of these mediocre cats out today.

4.0 out of 5 stars SO VICIOUS, October 27, 2004
This review is from: Date of Birth (Audio CD)
This is the second Arsonists CD, and it is so vicious ... Q-Unique kills every track he is on, and Swel destroys on "Burn It Out" as the beat switches up halfway through the song. You can rock Arsonists any day of the week, and this CD isnt any different.

5.0 out of 5 stars Arsonists Date of Birth, September 12, 2001
This review is from: Date of Birth (Audio CD)
I love this album. We all miss Fresstyle , but he will soon drop a album that we all can look forward to, and D-stroy will also drop one (he already dropped an EP) : ) .
Q-Uniques beats are fantastic, and they also have a guest produver: Psycho Les, I mean can he make a bad beat: NO!!!
He has produced the ANTHEM "Self Righteous Spics", fresh!
Bu the best beat I've heard in a long time is Q-Uniques "Language arts": Birds, puring water.. ITS BEAUTIFUL!!
But enough about the beats, this MCs rhymes (mostly battle) aint to mess with, smart and they have a really great Flow all of them.
Their Style is truly individual, the only group I can compare with dem is maybe...Non-phixion...
On the album only 1 MC is guesting KINETIC NEG on "SPace junk" another fat track along with ALive, Epitaph, Millionaire, Stay lo and...and.........

ALL I CAN SAY IS BUY IT NOW

This review is from: Date of Birth (Audio CD)
I love it. Ok we all miss Freestyle, but he will come with a Solo-album, so we have something to look forward to! And D-stroy of course who allready dropped an EP, and soon maybe an album? : )
This Album IS filled with incredibly much energy!
The tracks are mad fat, Incredible betas by Q-Unique, and the have a guest-producer: Psycho Les drom Beatnuts, I mean can he make a beat that aint FABOLOUS!!! The Track he produces is "Self-Righteous Spics (anthem)" and it's FRESH!!
The best beat I heard in a long time is on Language Arts with birds, and pouring water, AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
But its not only the beats, The rhymes (mostly battle ) are smart, and everyone of dem has a Great FLOW, Their style doesn't remind me of any group...hmmm..maybe NON-PHIXION..
All I Can say IS BUY IT, NOW!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Pure Hip-Hop, October 9, 2008
By
This review is from: Date of Birth (Audio CD)
This a album is pure Hip-Hop in a very genuine and raw way. The beats glow with energy, from the second "lay low" starts it becomes apparent that this is not a boring album. The three M.Cs spit some seriously complex rhymes with an energetic, angry flow. Jise One particularly stands out.

The beauty of this album is that it holds an underground vibe without having any corny "artsy" elements and stays to true to hip-hop themes.

If you're not big on the corporate rap garbage of today, but aren't a fan of cheesy toned-down "creative" rap either, this album should hit the spot.

What an album, DAMN!
I thought their first cd was amazing, there second CD is even better. What is there not to like from the Arsonists. Every song they make is perfect. They have a great sense of humor, and make music that never gets old. I have owned this album and there earlier on since they came out, just decided to review it now. I sure hope they come out with a third soon. If you like Hip Hop ( Not underground.. Thats were they burry dead people ) Then go and get this CD!

This is one of those rare albums that you can listen to all the way through, with a good balance of hype and mellow tracks. The guys sound good, even without Freestyle and D-Stroy. This is some good hip-hop! Date of Birth should be the album that catapauults the Arsonists into superstardom.
HOT!
