5.0 out of 5 stars Spot on Advice, July 2, 2008
By
This review is from: The Date Book: A Teen Girl's Complete Guide to Going Out with Someone New (Paperback)
This book is great for any girl with qualms about that first date. The advice is spot on, accomodating both teenage daters and parents alike. I would recommend this book to any potential teenage daters and parents who want to have some perspective on whats going on.

5.0 out of 5 stars My niece thinks I'm a "cool aunt" now!, October 15, 2007
This review is from: The Date Book: A Teen Girl's Complete Guide to Going Out with Someone New (Paperback)
I got this for my niece (age 15) and she LOVED it! I am now officially the "cool auntie" because it answered a lot of questions she had but didn't feel comfortable asking her Mom about. It even let she and I sit down and talk about boys. I might just get another copy to keep for when my little girl is a teenager.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Beginner Guide, October 13, 2010
This review is from: The Date Book: A Teen Girl's Complete Guide to Going Out with Someone New (Paperback)
This book is a solid introduction for a young girl who is considering dating, it clarifies not only what a date is, but a healthy outlook towards what to expect on a first date. From picking out an outfit to how to communicate with your parents about going out on a date, Erika Stalder gives positive, safe and fun advice to make a girl's first date fun. I would recommend this book for young girls and also parents who are looking for some insight and perspective.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it!, December 13, 2009

I'm a teenage girl, and I really loved reading this book because it's something that actually helped me and gave me tips! I love how the book tells you about things that make a date work, and other bright/not so great aspects that you have to take into account on a date. The dialogue that they present to you for things that your parents might say to you are really funny and made me laugh. I definitely think that every teenage girl should have this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Seen the Oprah episode about how to talk about sex with your kid? This is better., April 14, 2009

This review is from: The Date Book: A Teen Girl's Complete Guide to Going Out with Someone New (Paperback)
Look, a lot of us come from a generation where we didn't really get the sex talk from our parents. With the Tila Tequilas and all of the other crazy dating reality shows on MTV, young women might feel like they need to be a mini pornstar to just fit in on Friday night. What I love about this book is that it's really not about sex mechanics, it's more like a big sister telling their little sister about how to set boundaries with boys in a "cool" way, things they can do on "dates" that are fun and are places where girls can feel in control and still have fun with their guy, and what to wear so that they still feel cute, and what to carry in their purse so that they're prepared. Look, your daughter doesn't want to go all the way right away, but she may not know how to deal with the peer pressure. This book tells her how to do it, in language she will totally understand and more importantly, believe. I love how the information is presented in a real way totally on a teen's level, from a teen's perspective, but is all the information any mom would want their daughter to have. Highly, highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wish I Had This 5 Years Ago, July 21, 2008

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: The Date Book: A Teen Girl's Complete Guide to Going Out with Someone New (Paperback)
I picked up this book thinking that it would be a fluffy and girly book about boy-crazy fantasies, but I'm happy to say that I couldn't have been proven more wrong. "The Date Book" completely lives up to its name- its filled with accurate and healthy advice that make it a true bible for anyone entering the dating world. I thought I would have heard all of this stuff before, but this book impressed me with how down-to-earth and relevant it was. Cool side bits like the dating personality quiz and the "pre-date zen flow chart" made this book really entertaining, so much so that I gave it to my sister, who loved it too. For anyone who wants a simple handbook for navigating the dating world or even for someone who thinks they already have it figured out, I'd highly recommend "The Date Book."
