Check the Action Replay site before purchasing,

The PSP Action Replay works almost exactly as advertised. There is only one PSP battery that it's incompatible with, which Datel warns you about on their site. You'll also need to download and install a firmware update for the AR if you have recently updated your PSP. It's a bit of a pain, but if you read the instructions, you shouldn't have much trouble.
That's all great, but here is where the PSP AR falls apart: The quick and easy code updates is advertised as a selling point, but it's what kills the device. Unlike the DS and PS2 versions, you do not have an option to enter codes by hand. The only way to easily obtain codes is to download them from [...]. It's possible you may be able to find a third party site that provides codes to download, but I have yet to find one. Now, you may not think this is a problem, but check the most recent updates on the site. The last code update was released 19 days ago, and 11 of the 12 additions were for EU games. If you're thinking that you can use these codes because PSPs are not region locked, you're wrong. So if you live in Europe of have access to EU games, this device is pretty sweet. If your games are US though, you're pretty much wasting your money. Search the site for the games you're interested in. If your game's not listed, just forget it. I think the codes get updated maybe every 2 months, so don't expect the same kind of treatment as you did on the PS2 and DS. This is definitely the red-headed stepchild of the lot.

Datel, you've done it again!,

Action Replay PSP is a powerful tool. Currently lacking a few big titles on it's codelist, it's still amazing.
It formats your battery, rather than relying on a UMD, and comes with a dedicated 1GB memory stick. With these two enhancements, there's no need for me to carry around extra tools and such, which I must still do for my DS. Action Replay boots up whenever you reboot your PSP, but you can also turn it off as well. The best feature, and the thing that earns it five stars, is the ability to turn codes on and off in game by pressing the R and Home buttons simultaneously. This is great, because previously, I've had to save and reboot my cheatdevices and games just to swap out one code; thjis new feature is a breeze, and makes things very easy. Way to go Datel! You keep going in this direction, and Gameshark will be out of business before you know it!

A Better Way To Cheat PSP,

When it has came to the Action Replay cheat enhancers, they've shown a lot of promise for previous generation systems like the Playstation 2, Nintendo Gamecube and recently as a better version for the Nintendo DS. But, when it actually came down to the Sony PSP, they really had one that felt more like it was where you had everything, but no point to master the game. The previous version showed to be more of a dissapointment for those who really wanted to cheat PSP. Still, that has not stopped Datel from creating a better Action Replay for the Sony PSP, and this time it has shown to be more of a enhancer for the game, than just a cheat saver.
The Action Replay PSP 1GB for the Sony PSP, is what hard core cheaters have waited for the Sony PSP for the past several years. Here, you can actually cheat your way through your favorite Sony PSP games easier, and better than before. All you need to do, is simply plug in the code enhancer and install the software to your computer, and choose whatever codes you need to master your way to the top. It works great on classics like Lumines, Daxter, Madden '09, Need For Speed: Most Wanted 5-1-0, and God Of War: Chains Of Olympus. Not only can you install great codes through the computer, but you can also do it via Wi-Fi routers as well, which makes it simplier to install. The sadness though is that it currently is only available through the Datel website only, which is unfortunately the only place you can get the replay and cheat your way through the game. Not only that, the second disadvantage is that you can't manually install your codes without the internet connection. Hopefully, like what Datel made for the Action Replay for the Nintendo DS, they'll find a way for PSP gamers to install the codes manually, without a internet hookup. All in all, the newly made Action Replay PSP is a real treat die hard PSP cheaters had waited for the past several years. It really works well and is a great way to break through even the heardest titles. At around $40, it really has shown to be well worth the wait. Now, all you can do is cheat, and be a PSP legend. Buyer Beware, no truer words spoken. I received my PsP action replay last week and had a devil of a time trying to get it to work. To begin with, don't bother with Datel's customer service. They do not cover the action replay for Psp. Secondly, make sure your PsP has the most recent firmware upgrade (Once I upgraded the PsP itself the action replay worked fine.) You may also have to go to www.pspar.com. for the firmware download for the action replay as well. There is also a codelist that will download but it hasn't been updated since January. Be aware that you CAN NOT view what codes are being downloaded so you won't know if your game is supported until you reboot the Psp. Also, the codejunkies website for it is a joke. None of the community saves are active to download. The Action Replay itself does not support every single Psp Title (this is also a fault with the Action Replay for the DS)so those of you with Darkstalkers or the Sega Genesis collection are SOL. I tried it with some of my other games that were supported and it works OK. Some of the Castlevania codes are glitchy and you can get stuck at the end of levels but cheat codes are infamous for things like that. This could have been so much better than what it is. I am not surprised that it is unavailable in stores. It is sad that there is little to no support for it, there are no on-line sites either for save downloads and those that exist, again, only have certain games and the majority of those downloads are corrupt.

I just got my PSP Action Replay today, and it doesn't work. I did what the manual told me to do, but after putting the battery in after putting it through the converter, the light automatically turns on by it's own and the PSP doesn't start.
I don't know if this is because I have one of the older versions of the PSP, but this product doesn't work for me.

If you have OFW 5.02 do not get!,
By
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
I've recently purchased this product, I have offical firmware 5.02. I tried using the Action Replay but it did not work. Before I used the product I had to download an update patch. I have tried contacting datel about the product with no reply back on how I am suppose to fix this problem.
My suggestion is don't buy if you have OFW 5.02, the only thing you'll get is an extra memory card "1GB", and a battery switcher so you can switch your battery into "pandora mode" and back again, which has so far proved useless for I tried installing CFW, with no success with the switched battery. The memory card is a "Micro SD" inside of a adapter. It is good if you want to use a cheaper MicroSD card for a psp memory stick. That's about the only good things I have come to use this product for. |
