Chris Mitchell lives in Israel and has been reporting on the conflicts between Israel and the Muslim Middle East for years. This makes him uniquely qualified to give a picture of the major political trends in the area. Although I had read about the desire by the Muslim extremists to eliminate Israel, gain control of the Middle East and ultimately the world, his accounts of the battles he's witnessed, and the interviews with leaders in Israel and scholars who have studied the Middle Eastern conflict made it very real and rather frightening.

Mitchel intertwines the historical and political analysis with a discussion of the Biblical prophecies and the relevant passages from the Muslim literature. The facts of the Jews return to Israel and the subsequent conflicts with the Muslim countries make it seem that the prophecies of Isiah, Ezekiel, and Jeremiah are coming true in out times. It's fascinating reading.

Reading this book, Christians may wonder what they can do to help. Mitchell answers this question by discussing the World Prayer Conference. We can all pray for the survival of Israel. It is commanded by the Bible and Mitchell makes a good case that with so many people praying, God must be listening.

I highly recommend this book. It is well written and gives an account of the Middle East problems that you will find hard to ignore.

I reviewed this book for the Thomas Nelson Booksneeze Program.

This is a most book for those who want to know what is happening behind current events concerning the elections in Egypt and the Muslim threat. It is all centered on what God has prophesied long ago.
Mitchell, a reporter for CBN stationed in Jerusalem does a great job of pulling facts together in such a way that the reader is pulled in and educated.
There is a history behind what we see and read in our paper. Mitchell lives in Jerusalem and sees daily the working out of
events as pictured in the pages of Scripture. He does a great job of interpreting them for us.

Title: Dateline Jerusalem
Author: Chris Mitchell
Publisher: Nelson Books
ISBN: 978-1-4002-0528-8

"Yet after three thousand years, it's unlikely the world will loosen the tenacious Jewish attachment and grip to Jerusalem. Now with the Muslim fierce, full-throated cry to take Jerusalem back, it appears the stage is being set for an apocalyptic showdown on this fault line between Judeo-Christian and Islamic civilizations," Chris Mitchell writes in his book, "Dateline Jerusalem."

At two hundred and fifty-six pages, this paperback book is targeted toward readers interested in blending Biblical prophecies to current day events in regard to the status of Israel and the world. Using mainly the New King James version of the Bible, author Mitchell gives first-hand experience as a news journalist for CBN News living in the Middle East.

After four pages of accolades about the book and an introduction, there are eighteen chapters followed by acknowledgements, notes, topical index, and author's biography. Honing in on the writer's personal eyewitness encounters and experiences throughout the world, history along with political viewpoints are correlated to Scriptural prophecies.

The book starts during Egypt's "Arab Spring" two years ago while Mitchell watched it happen at Tahrir Square as he fled from the revolution. With the rise of the Muslim Brotherhood, the country got rid of its leader for so-called democracy.

The storyline follows him from Istanbul, Turkey, where Islam is promoted aggressively for global domination during the nine "freedom flotilla" ship activity, to the Israel Negev Desert discussing tracking Iran's computer date with their "Flame" virus.

As a news reporter for CBN News stationed in the Middle East, Chris Mitchell has first-hand knowledge of the struggles those countries encounter. In the book, Dateline Jerusalem, Mitchell effectively recounts his experiences as a reporter during war and peace time throughout the area and applies the events taking place to prophecy within the Bible.

Written in diary form, Mitchell takes readers through various events of the last three years. In vivid detail, he describes what daily life is like in a war zone. In one instance, he is hunkered down below the windows of his hotel room avoiding gunfire and stray bombs.

Mitchell defines the Arab Spring and addresses why it is so important to future events. He discusses the growing world belief that Israel does not have a right to exist. He explains the Muslim Brotherhood, and the growing influence of Islam throughout the United States and around the world.

Finally, Mitchell brings together current news events and Bible prophecy and explains how all these events culminate in one city: Jerusalem.

As a reader, I have some knowledge of both Middle Eastern events and the Bible, but I do not consider myself well-studied or a scholar in either. Mitchell was able to write this book in such a way that the average person is completely able to understand and relate to what he describes. With just general knowledge of current events, I was able to connect the dots Mitchell drew in detail throughout this book. I would recommend this book to anyone who is concerned with events taking place in the Middle East and how they relate to the book of Revelation in the Bible.
