If you are a parent or guardian of a 10-18 year old, "Dater's Ed" will be a great resource!

Lisa Jander has divided this book into two sections, Segment I and Segment II. (Just like the typical Driver's Ed course).

Segment I explores what teens and pre-teens will face on the dating highway before they ever leave their seats.

Segment II puts your child actually behind the wheel of a relationship. This section follows the test guidelines straight out of the Michigan Driver's Ed manual.

Like everything else in this book, these sections comically parallel a beginning driver's experience with a beginning dater's experience. Having just recently gone through the ordeal of having two teen-agers learn to drive, acquire their licenses and become comfortable behind the wheel, I can appreciate the similarities that this author cleverly chooses.

You might think to yourself..."Why do I need a manual to teach my kid how to date? I've been there - done that, and bought the t-shirt, and I really don't need any further instruction." Oh, but how things have changed in the last twenty years. If you don't think so, take a look at your child's text messages or their Facebook or MySpace accounts. Then really listen to their casual conversations with friends. You'll most likely learn a thing or two and at the same time realize that dating today is different, much different. Lisa Jander addresses these and other issues with practical and easy-to-follow suggestions.

This entire book gives clear, concise, and at times humorous advice on surviving the early dating years successfully. The material is both timeless and specifically appropriate for today. With the way things change: attitudes, technology, education, etc.
