Book Description

A modern Manhattan fairy tale starring . . .

Tracy Connor, a New York City career woman who loves her job and classic movies.

Mike Connor, her estranged husband, a small-town Mayor who loves his wife but doesn’t seem to have enough time to see her.

The handsome stranger, Philip Adams, who lives downstairs from the small sublet Tracy has temporarily moved into. He’s charming, funny, and looks a lot like her very favorite screen icon, Cary Grant.

Dating Cary Grant is a romance all about New York city career woman Tracy Connor struggling with real issues with her real guy, her husband of six years, Mayor Mike Connor of Cukor, Connecticut. Tracy is a smart woman, but some of her problems with relationships are partially caused by her unrealistic expectations that real guys should—and can— behave like matinee idols. Mike’s problems are also caused by the fact that he’s such a great guy and overextends his heart, and his appointment calendar, to every constituent, friend, or stray animal who crosses his path.

Tracy is also being stressed by a TV reality show intent on showcasing Tracy and Mike’s personal life, as well as the imminent takeover of her employer, a small, private television station, by a billionaire with unlimited funds and no taste.
Dating Cary Grant considers just how selfless a man needs to be to meet his wife’s expectations, and just how honest a woman must be with herself about what she’s willing to give, and give-up. And Cary Grant is along to help prove that any woman’s search for ‘Mr. Perfect ‘ might take her to a surprising place to find him.

DATING CARY GRANT voted BOOK OF THE MONTH by Long and Short Review readers!!!

the author went into the mind and lives of Tracy and Mike in such a way that you could really relate to both of them. I could really understand each of them and how they had gotten to this point in their marriage. It really is a love story, not just a break up story, and It was so well written and had unique plot, that I just couldn't put this book down until I had finished it. I loved it, and I loved the way it ended and for any of you who are looking for a fun, yet serious in a way, romance, this one is for you." Long and Short Reviews

DATING CARY GRANT"Fantasy and reality blend together in this mesmerizing tale from Emelle Gamble. I had a hard time putting it down, even as my eyes were getting dried out and closing from exhaustion...It's not your typical romance, making it a breath of fresh air in a market currently inundated with new adult contemporary romances (which I do love, but need a break once in a while!). I continue to be a fan of this author..." Andi's Book Reviews

"I rarely gush over a book these days. I read at least one, sometimes two books a day and so I can be hard to move. But, this one really got to me... you do not want to miss... Molly Harper."  Clue Review

"Secret Sister is one of those books that leaves you re-thinking everything you once believed...Along with being a very unique and captivating plot...I cannot recommend Secret sister strong enough for those of you that enjoy a book that not only touches your heart but has you tingling in anticipation for whatever comes next." From the Author

A Modern Manhattan fairy tale...
Now think. If you had a choice to spend your evenings the next few weeks with a charming, sexy movie star, or with your husband, whom would you choose?
Well, of course you'd choose your husband. He's your true love. The man you've promised yourself to, committed yourself to, till death do you part.  Right?
But, what if your husband is a workaholic and, despite the fact that his ambitions are to help people lead better lives, he pretty much ignores you most of the time. So what if you decided to move out on your own? Because you need a break from the discussions and disappointment and stuck in the mud, unable to move forward place you find yourselves in. Because you do, after all, want to find a permanent solution to your marital woes.
Would you like a little company? (Did I mention the sexy movie star?) Well, what if the movie star was  -- ta dah!!! --  Cary Grant!
Cary Grant???
Well, I don't mean the real Cary Grant, right? The star of Notorious, and Indiscreet, the hunk in It Takes a Thief and North by Northwest, to name a few of his seventy-two films? I can't mean Mr. uber-Handsome, Mr. Cleft in his chin, Mr. Very, very cool, classy movie star ICON, right? Because, you're certainly thinking, isn't Mr. Grant, well, dead?
Yes, unfortunately he is.
But what if his totally perfect and sexy ghost was currently living in a high-end townhouse in New York City? And he's sweet and tan and mixes great martinis. He likes white dinner jackets and a heart-to-hearts  by the fire where he can lean close and whisper in your ear, "What else can I for you tonight?"
So, I ask again. If you had to pick between spending the next few weeks with the guy who might have been your biggest mistake in life, or a legend who listens when you talk, always understands what you mean (and looks like a Greek god would look if he was an Englishman), who would you choose?
Hubby? Or Cary?

5.0 out of 5 stars Topper has nothing on Tracy! August 29, 2014

Dating Cary Grant by Emelle Gamble

Dating Cary Grant is a delightful tale mixing the mundane with the mysterious, the otherworldly with the ordinary. Tracy Connor has left her home in Connecticut for a walk up studio apartment in the Turtle Bay section of Manhattan, leaving her husband, Mike, behind in Cukor and to the demands of his office of mayor. Tracy is a producer for a small television station in NYC, works long hours, and absolutely loves the city. She is also a die-hard old movie buff and produces a show that reviews old movies. To her. Cary Grant was always "Mr. Perfect", something she does not see in her husband.

Mike, on the other hand, is a small town fellow who has given up his law position in New York to return to Cukor as the always available mayor. He is more of a Jimmy Stewart than a Cary Grant. The couple spent time with her home on weekends, then her commuting daily, but then, as he succumbed to the needs of the town, Tracy moved back to NYC, first to stay with her friend, Posey, then to seek her own little place.

The madcap encounters of the evening of apartment hunting, the misunderstandings that occur between Tracy and Mike, the undercurrent of a hostile takeover of the tv station, and a relentless reality crew dogging Tracy and Mike, make for a zany adventure complete with otherworldly visitations and the guidance of matinee idols.

I wholeheartedly recommend this entertaining tale!

Dating Cary Grant, Emelle Gamble
Review from jeannie zelos book reviews
I loved Emelle's Secret Sister, and was keen to read this book Once again she delivered more than just the simplistic novel the description suggests. You'd think this book was a simple, easy to read romantic comedy, and it is but its also much much more, making the reader think about what's truly important in a marriage and how best to achieve it.
I loved both Tracy and Mike, they're like many people, so in love and yet also devoted to their careers and jobs and in this case the two just won't merge. They married thinking time would sort it, Tracy tried commuting at weekends and that didn’t work, so she moved to living full time with Mike, and staying with friends etc when work commitments were too strong. That hasn't worked either, with her being overtired and still seeing little of Mike as he's been so tied up with Mayoral problems. Feeling she comes last in his priorities she signs a six month lease on a place in the city....hoping they can work things out. Mike isn't happy, he cant see why she can't live at home and commute, and maybe do less hours. He says he'll cut back too but she doesn't think he will follow through, she knows how he cant bear to leave a problem. She can't see why he lets everything, people, town problems, even stray animals, take priority over her, or even why they can't move to the city and he commute....I couldn't see how on earth they could solve this, and yet it was clear despite the weeks spent away from each other, the missed dates, the angry phone calls that they were deeply in love. As her mum says at one point – Mike is still the person she married. It was his selflessness, determination to do the best for people, lack of selfishness that drew her to him....

5.0 out of 5 stars I just couldn't get enough... April 17, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
Ms. Emelle Gamble has a natural flair for innovative, romance, sort of bohemian artist or writer like Ms. Gamble is, free spirited, artsy, avant-garde ... in short, I love her style of writing!

This story touched me in a way that it brought some good memories and nostalgic moments with my mom ( she adores Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn ) and to see this two played a big part of this whimsical story made it even sweeter. Almost hard to conjure up yet you're mesmerized and you keep wanting to read and know more and wish for more. There are a lot of funny moments, sort of watching one of the reality shows but more real and interesting and drives a lesson across.

This is about two strong, career driven, ambitious couple but with a heart of gold, who somehow lost track of what's important, of what matters to each of them and each other's individual dreams.

A good marriage is all about what makes you and your spouse happy, of giving in and taking some and meeting halfway. What Tracy and Mike Connor went through humbled me, it made me smile, frustrated at times but also taught me something...that life begins again every single day and it's up to you to make each day count.

This is extremely well written and with all the many good books written by many great authors, I truly wonder why I've never come across Ms. Gamble's until now.... this is my first book of hers and I know it wouldn't be the last.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Read April 18, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
When Tracy moved out of her home with her husband Mike, she had not decided what to do about her marriage. When she met a man who looked just like Cary Grant, it really began to complicate things. However, it was not someone who looked like him, it was Cary Grant. I know, he isn’t alive any more, but there he was in her apartment building, talking, flirting and trying to get to know her better.

At this point, this story began to be really interesting and different. I wasn’t certain how this would make the story end up with a HEA, but I loved the way Cary Grant kept popping into her life, trying to help, but more often than not, causing more problems. I loved this story line, and when Katherine Hepburn popped in to help him, the story became even more fun.

How she actually handled the situation, and how she dealt with these spirits not only made the story more fun to read, but the author went into the mind and lives of Tracy and Mike in such a way that you could really relate to both of them. I could really understand each of them and how they had gotten to this point in their marriage. It really is a love story, not just a break up story, and It was so well written and had unique plot, that I just couldn’t put this book down until I had finished it.

I loved it, and I loved the way it ended and for any of you who are looking for a fun, yet serious in a way, romance, this one is for you.

More About the Author

I've been writing fiction my whole life...first story at five was about a lost bunny asking all his fellow creatures if they could tell him what kind of animal he was... "Am I a deer, Mrs. Bambi...Am I a cat, Mrs. Kitten?"

From there it was bad teen poetry, stab-in-the-dark attempts at 'real' literature (which I very rightly shredded) and then college, marriage, blessed motherhood, several moves around this great country of ours while I wrote, studied and submitted. I was first published by Harlequin Intrigue's line of romantic suspense as 'M. L. Gamble' and wrote seven books for them.

My books are always relationship stories about women and the men they love and the friends they hold dearest, but they've also always had a little touch of something else, a mystery here, a ghost there, something extraordinary that gave the folks in my imagined world a little extra to deal with. Secret Sister, a woman's fiction novel, has a little touch of paranormal.

I am an unabashed even though I write plots heavy with big ideas, romance is always front and center. My characters Cruz Morales, Molly Harper and Ben Delmonico are a typical triangle with some atypical issues to deal with in Duets, a novella in the anthology Once and Forever.

Their story continues in Molly Harper, available now. I hope you enjoy all these stories. Please let me hear from you at any time.
