Book Description

A modern Manhattan fairy tale starring . . .

Tracy Connor, a New York City career woman who loves her job and classic movies.

Mike Connor, her estranged husband, a small-town Mayor who loves his wife but doesn’t seem to have enough time to see her.

The handsome stranger, Philip Adams, who lives downstairs from the small sublet Tracy has temporarily moved into. He’s charming, funny, and looks a lot like her very favorite screen icon, Cary Grant.

Dating Cary Grant is a romance all about New York city career woman Tracy Connor struggling with real issues with her real guy, her husband of six years, Mayor Mike Connor of Cukor, Connecticut. Tracy is a smart woman, but some of her problems with relationships are partially caused by her unrealistic expectations that real guys should—and can— behave like matinee idols. Mike’s problems are also caused by the fact that he’s such a great guy and overextends his heart, and his appointment calendar, to every constituent, friend, or stray animal who crosses his path.

Tracy is also being stressed by a TV reality show intent on showcasing Tracy and Mike’s personal life, as well as the imminent takeover of her employer, a small, private television station, by a billionaire with unlimited funds and no taste.
Dating Cary Grant considers just how selfless a man needs to be to meet his wife’s expectations, and just how honest a woman must be with herself about what she’s willing to give, and give-up. And Cary Grant is along to help prove that any woman’s search for ‘Mr. Perfect ‘ might take her to a surprising place to find him.

Praise for Emelle Gamble

DATING CARY GRANT voted BOOK OF THE MONTH by Long and Short Review readers!!!

the author went into the mind and lives of Tracy and Mike in such a way that you could really relate to both of them. I could really understand each of them and how they had gotten to this point in their marriage. It really is a love story, not just a break up story, and It was so well written and had unique plot, that I just couldn't put this book down until I had finished it. I loved it, and I loved the way it ended and for any of you who are looking for a fun, yet serious in a way, romance, this one is for you." Long and Short Reviews

DATING CARY GRANT"Fantasy and reality blend together in this mesmerizing tale from Emelle Gamble. I had a hard time putting it down, even as my eyes were getting dried out and closing from exhaustion...It's not your typical romance, making it a breath of fresh air in a market currently inundated with new adult contemporary romances (which I do love, but need a break once in a while!). I continue to be a fan of this author..." Andi's Book Reviews

"I rarely gush over a book these days. I read at least one, sometimes two books a day and so I can be hard to move. But, this one really got to me... you do not want to miss... Molly Harper."  Clue Review

"Secret Sister is one of those books that leaves you re-thinking everything you once believed...Along with being a very unique and captivating plot...I cannot recommend Secret sister strong enough for those of you that enjoy a book that not only touches your heart but has you tingling in anticipation for whatever comes next." From the Author

A Modern Manhattan fairy tale...
Now think. If you had a choice to spend your evenings the next few weeks with a charming, sexy movie star, or with your husband, whom would you choose?
Well, of course you'd choose your husband. He's your true love. The man you've promised yourself to, committed yourself to, till death do you part.  Right?
But, what if your husband is a workaholic and, despite the fact that his ambitions are to help people lead better lives, he pretty much ignores you most of the time. So what if you decided to move out on your own? Because you need a break from the discussions and disappointment and stuck in the mud, unable to move forward place you find yourselves in. Because you do, after all, want to find a permanent solution to your marital woes.
Would you like a little company? (Did I mention the sexy movie star?) Well, what if the movie star was  -- ta dah!!! --  Cary Grant!
Cary Grant???
Well, I don't mean the real Cary Grant, right? The star of Notorious, and Indiscreet, the hunk in It Takes a Thief and North by Northwest, to name a few of his seventy-two films? I can't mean Mr. uber-Handsome, Mr. Cleft in his chin, Mr. Very, very cool, classy movie star ICON, right? Because, you're certainly thinking, isn't Mr. Grant, well, dead?
Yes, unfortunately he is.
But what if his totally perfect and sexy ghost was currently living in a high-end townhouse in New York City? And he's sweet and tan and mixes great martinis. He likes white dinner jackets and a heart-to-hearts  by the fire where he can lean close and whisper in your ear, "What else can I for you tonight?"
So, I ask again. If you had to pick between spending the next few weeks with the guy who might have been your biggest mistake in life, or a legend who listens when you talk, always understands what you mean (and looks like a Greek god would look if he was an Englishman), who would you choose?
Hubby? Or Cary?

3.0 out of 5 stars Cary Grant... sighhhhhhh... September 5, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
If I'm ever haunted by a ghost I can only hope and pray that it would be Cary Grant!! One can dream right?? That is what intrigued me most about picking up this particular romance... I like to dive into something a little different every now and then.
Even though I love the idea of the story, I can't say that I particularly liked the leading lady or her husband Mike. These two and their self absorbed ways was a bit difficult or me to wrap my head around. Neither one of them wanting to give up their careers led to Tracy moving to New York to live in an old small apartment so she would no longer have to commute. An apartment that has no phone reception and no way to install a landline. But, it does have a handsome resident who goes by the name Phillip... (aka) our resident ghost! Tracy becomes somewhat infatuated with the handsome man who makes her feel like a desirable woman.
This is a romance that revolves heavily around the old movies from the past... it's not a steamy romance but instead plays on our ideas of the kind of man that would be our own... "Mr. Perfect". For Tracy that was Cary Grant...
This was a good solid read... not for all romance fans... but, might appeal mostly to those who spend a lot of time with their head into the old romance icons of the past. I liked it but I didn't love it... but, only because I was having trouble coping with our wishy washy heroine and husband and their constant inability to communicate with each other and make compromises. I was pleased with the ending BUT it was a frustrating journey! But, maybe that was the point.. :)

5.0 out of 5 stars A Never-Ending Love November 14, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
Hold onto your hats as you descend through this non-stop, fascinating read and prepare yourself for a very interesting ride, because this is not your typical romance.
Mike and Tracy are a married couple, but they don’t see themselves as a fairy tale couple in a movie with a happy ending. Neither one wants to give up their career in order to make the other one happy. So Tracy decides, on her own, to lease an apartment in New York to see if she can come up with a way to keep the two of them together, or see if they are ready to go their separate ways. Will she find out something she does not want to? Will their love be strong enough to keep the two together, or send them further and further apart?
While in New York, before leasing the apartment, Tracy had a casualty. She fell and bumped her head on the cement sidewalk and had to go to the hospital
after a woman on a bike, by the name of Christina Drayton, who happened to look a lot like Katharine Hepburn whizzed through. Then right after Tracy leased the apartment, she happened to meet a very handsome man by the name of Philip Adams, who happened to look a lot like Cary Grant. Coincidence? Will Philip, with his romantic ways, sweep Tracy off her feet and make her forget about Mike? Or will his charming ways; plus the help of Christina Drayton, get true love back into Tracy and Mike’s life again? A must

5.0 out of 5 stars I just couldn't get enough... April 17, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
Ms. Emelle Gamble has a natural flair for innovative, romance, sort of bohemian artist or writer like Ms. Gamble is, free spirited, artsy, avant-garde ... in short, I love her style of writing!

This story touched me in a way that it brought some good memories and nostalgic moments with my mom ( she adores Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn ) and to see this two played a big part of this whimsical story made it even sweeter. Almost hard to conjure up yet you're mesmerized and you keep wanting to read and know more and wish for more. There are a lot of funny moments, sort of watching one of the reality shows but more real and interesting and drives a lesson across.

This is about two strong, career driven, ambitious couple but with a heart of gold, who somehow lost track of what's important, of what matters to each of them and each other's individual dreams.

A good marriage is all about what makes you and your spouse happy, of giving in and taking some and meeting halfway. What Tracy and Mike Connor went through humbled me, it made me smile, frustrated at times but also taught me something...that life begins again every single day and it's up to you to make each day count.

This is extremely well written and with all the many good books written by many great authors, I truly wonder why I've never come across Ms. Gamble's until now.... this is my first book of hers and I know it wouldn't be the last.

4.0 out of 5 stars Ghost or not?? November 14, 2014
By m7c57
Format:Kindle Edition
Tracy Connor, a career woman, working in NYC, is married to Mike Connor, Mayor of Cukor, Connecticut. Tracy has decided to spend her time in Turtle Bay, Manhattan in a small apartment she has rented for 6 months so she no longer has to commute from Cukor to NYC. This causes many conflicts with Mike, her husband, who has a political career in Cukor. They are both strong career oriented people and neither one wants to give in. Tracy ends up moving in with Posey, her friend, after deciding to keep living in NYC.

Phillip Adams living downstairs appears to be a ghost resembling Cary Grant, which no one can see except Tracy. Cary Grant is hilarious as he always is and I can hear his voice speaking to Tracy. Then the story grows more fascinating when Katherine Hepburn also joins Cary Grant. What a hoot the two of them are! Will Cary and Katherine be able to help Tracy and Mike get back together?

Dating Cary Grant by Emelle Gamble, my first time author, has written such a fantastic romantic novel. I love all the old black and white movies along with Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn. I was very intrigued to read Dating Cary Grant to find out if he is as romantic in this book as he was on the television. Emelle Gamble provided me with this book for my honest review. I recommend this very easy and delightful book! You won't be able to put it down until you reach the last page!!

More About the Author

My books have one thing in common...ordinary women in extraordinary situations. They are all relationship stories about women and the men they love, and the friends they hold dearest. They also all have a touch of something else; a mystery here, a ghost there, an exciting or shocking turn of events. This gives the folks in my imagined world an interesting extra conflict to deal with, and my readers an extra issue to think about.

SECRET SISTER is a woman's fiction novel with a touch of paranormal that sets the plot in motion. It's hard to put down once you start.

DUETS, a prequel novella, and the novel MOLLY HARPER, set three years later, explore the multi-faceted impact family secrets have on the lives of three women and the people who love them. It's heartfelt. and the final chapter is now available! DECEMBER WEDDING is the last chapter about Cruz and Molly, and I hope you enjoy their happy ever after.

DATING CARY GRANT is a modern Manhattan tale of a career woman, her estranged small town mayor hubby, and a certain drop-dead handsome neighbor who just might be the ghost of a certain screen icon. It's fun!

I hope you enjoy all these stories. Please come see me at, follow me on Twitter @EmelleGamble or email me at any time.
