The Daughters of Bast by Sarah Isidore,
This review is from: The Daughters of Bast: The Hidden Land (Mass Market Paperback)
I think this author is as good as Marian Zimmer Bradley, and I hope she continues on with this series. I enjoyed how she fleshed out the history in her book, along with describing the life of a priestess. Plenty of adventure and a lot of magic, which makes it fun!

A great story combining magic and reality, history and fantasy. I enjoyed the development of the main character and her relationship with the cat. A truly unique book and I am looking forward to the next one!

This should be a great series. The author has used accurate historical detail fused seamlessly with folk traditions of the Celts in a rich and sometimes heartbreaking story. Can't wait for the rest of the books!

This book is one that a person cannot afford to pass up. Sarah Isidore does a terrific job of combining history with fantasy. The characters portrayed in this book really makes you feel as if you know them, like they are one of your best friends. The cat-Mau- is a great character, and has an attitude that fits a cat. I cannot express how good this good this book truly is, so anyone reading this review, please go out and buy this great book. Again, Sarah is probably one of the best authors I have read, and with anticipation I await to buy the sequel! God bless

I couldn't put it down!,

This is a must for anyone who has an interest in egyptian or celtic history. I love both and this book weaved them both together seemlessly. You can really feel the young girls frustration with her tribe when they won't believe her. Mau brings some good humor to the story as well. I thought the ending was sad but since its the beggining of a series it won't be so bad. A refreshing story about the power of women in history. I loved it! I cant wait for the next one!

a vivid story.....,
This review is from: The Daughters of Bast: The Hidden Land (Mass Market Paperback)
This book is an exciting starter to Sarah Isadore's trilogy. I can't wait to read the second book! I love fantasy books (especially ones with cats) and this book is quite good! Veleda is chosen by a mysterious outland goddess, an egyptian deity named Bast. She alone is faced with the challenge to stop Bast's evil sister, Sekhemet, and save her people from the legions of Rome. Read it. You'll like it.

The Daughters of Bast The Hidden Land was a well written and compelling book to read. The combination of the Celtic history and the magical powers of the priestess made for a very interesting fantasy that I enjoyed reading very much. I look forward to the next book in the trilogy.

I see myself,
This review is from: The Daughters of Bast: The Hidden Land (Mass Market Paperback)
I feel like I am a newly found daughter of Bast! Reading Sarah Isador's book provided such vivid imagery of feminine power, spirit and force in the world, not just on the obvious plane of everyday reality, but far beyond, to the spaces of the imagination and the soul. I could identify with the main character: I kept thinking, "what would I do?" I couldn't put it down. Read it and imagine the possibilities!

A Daughter of Bast,

This review is from: The Daughters of Bast: The Hidden Land (Mass Market Paperback)
As I started this book I found my self thinking how much I had in common with Veleda. Doesn't every teenage girl understand her fustriation at knowing something so important and yet no one will listen. The people of her village are like a frog set in water over the eye of a stove. They dont realise the water's gotten to hot untill it's to late. But yet she persists and in a way prevails. This is a excellent book and I cannot wait for the rest of the series.
