1.0 out of 5 stars Not Recommended
I'll put it bluntly: I don't recommend this series. Granted, I'm no longer in the demographic that "Daughters of the Moon" is targeted toward, but I was when I first read "Nightshade" and I wasn't impressed even then.

The premise of Daughters of the Moon is that young girls who are delivered by the goddess Diana are infused with magical powers that they must...

5.0 out of 5 stars Jimena has to face a familliar figure from her past, April 7, 2001
This review is from: Daughters of the Moon, Book #3: Night Shade (Hardcover)
Everyone knows Jimena as one of the must stubborn and bravest members of the daughters of the moon, but in this book we learn how she got her bravery. Before Jimena found out she was a Goddess she was one of the toughest girls in a gang. Everyone was afraid of her and she knew it. But now that she's shed her bad girl past, a famillar face is comign back to haunt her. It's Veto, a long lost dead boyfriend from her past. What is Veto? Is he real? Did he ever die? Is he back for good? Or is he just an evil tool of the atrox set out to destroy the goddesses. Jimena dosen't know but she's about to find out.

Like the last two books in the series Night shade is exciting and a page turner. I toatally reccomend this book for fans of the series and the supernatural. I can't wait to read the next book in the series, The Secret Scroll, which stars Catty.

5.0 out of 5 stars Night Shade, March 30, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Daughters of the Moon, Book #3: Night Shade (Hardcover)
In Night Shade, Cassandra, a Follower is planning to take down the Daughters of the Moon. She even goes back to the past to change an event but you don't know what has been changed because it is already something in their past and as Catty says in the book, you can't change something in the past unless it was already meant to be. The weird thing is that Veto, Jimena's past love, appears who you think is already dead. Then you learn that Veto made a pack with the Atrox so that he could be with Jimena because they said that nothing would separate them, including death. This is a great book and I recommed it to anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jimena follows her heart straight to Tartarus., March 28, 2001

This review is from: Daughters of the Moon, Book #3: Night Shade (Hardcover)
Before Jimena Castillo found out about her true identity, she was part of a gang and considered the toughest chola in East L.A. But after finding her true identity as a Daughter of the Moon and why she has the power to see into the future, she started to rebuild her life. Everything was going pretty good until the love of her life, Veto, came back to her. The problem with this is that Veto has been dead for a year. Veto claims that he has been alive the entire time, but Vanessa, Serena, and Catty, the other three Daughters of the Moon, think he is working for the evil Atrox. Jimena insists that they are wrong. But when her love for Veto leads her to Tartarus, a dark abyss below Earth's surface, will she be able to fight the anger in her heart or will she give into it? If she does give into her anger she will make the Atrox so powerful that even the Daughters of the Moon would be unable to stop it. This book was a great addition to the Daughters of the Moon series, and if you liked the first two you should definitely read this one.

This review is from: Daughters of the Moon, Book #3: Night Shade (Hardcover)
This book is my fav out of the series. Its awesome!

Jimena meets the love of her life that was killed a year ago on enemy territory, Veto. And of course the only reason he was there was that he thought she needed his help. Jimena thinks that he had been hiding himself for a year, but he had made a deal with the Atrox that threatens the Daughters of the Moon. Can the girls save Jimena, who is so desperatly trying to save Veto?

5.0 out of 5 stars A Lost Love.... a Traitor......., May 11, 2002
By
This review is from: Daughters of the Moon, Book #3: Night Shade (Hardcover)
In this cool book, Jimena meets her long lost love Veto. She can't beleive it. At first, she thinks Veto is some hallucination or a ghost. But he is neither. Jimena wants to believe that Veto is real, but somehow Veto has changed. Jimena makes a startling discovery that Veto may have helped the Atrox to destroy her and her sisters, and it may be too late to save the daughters of the moon. Was Veto decieved by the Atrox, or was Jimena decieved by Veto? If Veto is really dead, could there be chance that things might work out between Jimena and Collin? Could Jimena actually fall in love with Collin??????

Hanna (Los Angeles, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Daughters of the Moon, Book #3: Night Shade (Hardcover)
This book was really good. You're probably dying to know what happens. Well, let me give a little piece of it. Jimena, once a tough chola, has recovered from the lost of her boyfriend from a year ago. That is...until he reappears out of nowhere. Jimena discovers she got more than she bargained for. Veto, not knowingly, has made a very dangerous deal with the Atrox believing he has tricked them. But it was the other way around. Now Jimena and the other moon daughters must, once again, risk their lives to save the innocent. In the end, Jimena may have found someone to love again.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Good Read, May 21, 2001
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Daughters of the Moon, Book #3: Night Shade (Hardcover)
Night Shade by Lynne Ewing is one of the best fantasy books books I have ever read in a long time. It's about four girls who find out that their Goddess and are saving the world from the Atrox, the most evil of evil. This book focuses on one of the girls, Jimena, and her dead boyfreind who comes back to life. she finds out and knows it has something to do with the Atrox. She only sees him every so often, but she wants him to stay forever. Since the're love is so strong Jemina will do almost anything for him, even give her life. This book is filled with romance, fear, and will leave you hanging on the edge of your seat. I recommend this book to people who like fantasy, romance, and adventure all in the same story.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Spellbinding and Enthralling book, April 9, 2001
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Daughters of the Moon, Book #3: Night Shade (Hardcover)
This book keeps you wondering tthe entire way through. It has beautiful discriptions and plot line. When Jimena's boyfriend comes back after being dead a year, she doesn't beleive he was really there. But after time and time again she sees how real he actually is. But sadly, he is not real enough. He had made a terrible deal with the Atrox that helped him escape Tartaurus, an equivilent of hell, to be with Jimena forever. But like with every deal made with the Atrox, there is a catch, a trick, and a loss. . .

A well written book that i recommend to poeple with a love in fiction, magic, and Mythology.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jimena must confront her painful past in order to survive., March 23, 2001
This review is from: Daughters of the Moon, Book #3: Night Shade (Hardcover)
Jimena grew up in the violent, gang-infested world of inner city Los Angeles. As a young teen, she was lured into a gang, believing violence was the answer to all her problems. But when her boyfriend Veto was killed, she struggled to rebuild her life, free of the world of gangs. When she discovered her special power to see the future was real and that she was part of a greater destiny as a Daughter of the Moon, Jimena attempted to put her past behind her. Now, the battle between good and evil is heating up. But against her will, Jimena is pulled back into her old life with the sudden reappearance of Veto, who insists that he never died. However, Jimena's fellow daughters, Vanessa, Serene, and Catty, and their mentor, Maggie, believe that Veto has been brought back from the dead by their mortal enemy, the Atrox. Jimena wants to believe that Veto has nothing to do with the Atrox - but if she wants to survive, she will have to face the truth, painful though it may be. This book was a thrilling continuation of the Daughters of the Moon series. I reccomend it to all fans of the first two books.
