A good Dianic deck,
By A Customer
This review is from: Daughters of the Moon Tarot Deck Color (Cards)
This was the first deck I was really able to use. I'd wanted to use Motherpeace, but the washed out colors and primitive artwork didn't say a word to me. The Daughters of the Moon deck, on the other hand, shouted to me. The colors are vibrant, the pictures evocative, and the theme was totally Dianic. The deck is a departure from the Rider Waite paradigm, so if you've memorized "traditional" card meanings, you'll need to do some relearning to use this deck. I only have two minor complaints about DoM. The first is that the artwork isn't very sophisticated. This didn't bother me at first, but the older I get, the more it does. The second is that there are very few cards with genuinely negative meanings. The few that are negative are drawn in such a way that they suggest possibilities for transformation of that negativity. This makes DoM a great deck for personal readings, but possibly not for straightforward divination. Still, despite those two things, this really is a great women's deck, and I'd highly recommend it for Dianics everywhere.

As a femminist, Dianic, Witch, I find this deck tremendously beautiful and empowering!I reccomend this deck to all Womyn, even though it does have a definete Lesbian slant to it. The mere fact of it being an all-female deck is fabulous! Hmmm...wonder if they have something comparable for Men. I think this deck could be used very easily for meditation and spellwork as well divination.

I love this deck. I've put away the patriarchcal-oriented decks and have started using this one instead. The artwork has extremly vibrant colors; and I liked the tribal- style paintings. Because the archetypes are not oriented towards dualism, I find that the readings are very positive and healthy for the psyche. The book is a must-buy, since there is no booklet enclosed, and the ordering info. does not make that clear. I don't think the author intended to "male bash", but rather to make readers aware of the nature of dualism, patriarchy, and HOW INGRAINED these are in our culture, and how we accept those viewpoints without being aware of them. This deck communicates the sheer JOY AND POWER of woman-hood, and I would not describe it as being oriented only for lesbians. I think it depicts something that women today need to reclaim: women coming together in celebration and ritual. I would howevere, have liked to have seen a card for a male/female couple for the lovers which equalled the intensity and beauty of the two female lovers. If I were to give a tarot deck as a gift, this would be the one I would chose.

A wonderful women's deck.,

This tarot pack is a vibrant, joyous celebration of women. However, the artwork is often a little childish looking, which does become unappealing after a while. It doesn't come with any little white booklet, so you will probably need to buy the companion book. Some complaints about the deck are for those women (like me) who are not extreme feminists or are not lesbians. Two Lovers cards are included: one female/female, and another of "beings." The two women for the Lovers is a card that shows great passion, whereas the sexless "beings" Lovers card is just . . . blah. It doesn't compare to the same-sex card, unfortunately. The deck also includes a Pan card, but it seems he has been stripped of his sexuality and masculinity. If you don't want Pan in the deck, a Coyotewoman card is also included to replace him. The deck ends up to be a little demeaning towards men, and when you read the companion book, it's even worse. However, for those women who are comfortable with those feelings, this is an amazing deck to work with. It has always been frighteningly accurate for me, and it really does bring forth a feeling of sisterhood and rejoicing in being a woman. It's a very positive tarot deck and may be incredibly helpful. Everything in the Majors has been renamed, and the Major Arcana is now called the Aether (or Spirit) Arcana. Then there are Blades, Cups, Pentacles, and Flames. There are no court cards; Maiden, Mother, and Crone have replaced them. Some of it is really brilliant, but it is a VERY feminist deck. It was a little overwhelming at first when I opened the deck because I didn't know that's what I had bought. After all these years, I'm happy that I still own this deck, as it has proven itself to be a wonderful tool for personal reflection.

Daughters of the Moon Tarot,

I have used this deck for over 12 years now (I actually have a pen and ink deck--not colored), and although it DEFINITELY takes some time to get to "know" and work with the energies and symobology, it is well worth it. My experiences working with this deck- for myself and others--have been unerringly accurate, and I truly appreciate the subtlties that the round deck presents in interpretation. I have found it difficult, if not simply impractical, to try and read men with the deck--its just not meant for them and that's fine with me!! I certainly can, but generally do not like to do this. The imagery is global and inclusive, and the symbology is strikingly accurate at the deeper levels. This is my primary deck for workings and readings, and highly recommended for any open to the radical feminism and sheer power of it!! Definitely get the "Wild Witches..." book to go with it.

Ancient wisdom for modern women,
This review is from: Daughters of the Moon Tarot Deck Color (Cards)
This deck and its companion book reunites women with their true matriarchal roots and emphasizes creating community. Women were once worshiped as goddesses and all of nature and life was associated with the regenerative powers of the womb. This we know as is evidenced in today's archaeology and anthropology research. This type of deck, with its feminist focus, has the ability to reawaken the female's lost healer, nurturer, spiritual leader and goddess. I have done an enormous amount of research on this deck and have written a well-researched blog on my website through the guidance of Dr. Audrey McKinney at Texas State University. Reading the blog will give you an indepth look at this deck and the usefulness of this type of tool. [...]

Reliable System for Feminist Empowerment,

This was the first Tarot deck I ever encountered. It was so amazingly accurate and inspiring that I had to purchase it. Shortly thereafter I started doing readings for friends and clients, and now after 15 years, it is still one of my favorites.
When I read for people, I recommend using this deck when the question has to do with finding one's voice, taking one's power, sharing in true community, and generally moving through self-imposed limitations. For anyone starting out to learn Tarot, who has feminist sensibilities, I highly recommend the Daughters of the Moon deck and its companion interpretation book.

Daughters of the Moon, what a lovely deck!!!
I bought these cards almost 20 years ago and have been enamored with them equally since. The deck is illustrated by a variety of women- some cards by one woman solo, others a joint effort. Lovely. The line drawing style is detailed yet accessible to the reader. My deck is black and white [do they come in color?] and one by one, I have been coloring them in using prismacolor pencils. This option gives the owner of the cards time to really get to know the meanings of the cards, by handling them intimately, and use colors which, to them, symbolize personal meaning. Perfect. I have been coloring them in one by one, since I purchased them. I have 9 more left in black and white. I use them to read for myself only- with the exception of once or twice, for a woman in need of a strong, female-centered reading. The fives are illustrated as storms. What an enlightened way to illustrate the fives! The deck is definitely one influenced directly by a feminist theme, and the round shape allows the reader/querent to read them all "upright" and have a more open-ended interpretation of the cards. In all, I love these cards. I recommend them for any tarot enthusiast or collector!

A feminist perspective, but totally relevant to women AND men, this tarot deck visualizes the traditional tarot system in a new way -- one that encompasses world-wide archetypical images.
