About the Author

Ffiona Morgan is a wild welsh woman who loves the goddess and the earth with a passion. Ffiona is one of the mothers of the current resurgence of the Goddess movement in the United States, with over 20 years of experience in ritual and women's spirituality, as both a seeker and a Priestess. This book explains the beautifully illustrated tarot deck of the same name. It is very easy to use. The illustrations on the card are at the top of the page in the book that corresponds. Information as it relates to the reading that you give is usually found within the last paragraph. Colorful descriptions of the goddess featured on each card and her significance are an added bonus. Definitely a feminine deck but those of the male persuasion can also use it. There are 2 lovers cards for this purpose. This deck really speeks to me and the cards are very powerful.

The images on the deck are inspiring and uplifting and the interpretations I put together with the assistance of this guide were excellent. The multicultural, and feminist references gave it a wholeness and legitimacy that may be lacking in other decks.

I would have liked greater detail with reversed positions and their interpretations. These were often significant, but omitted from the text.

This is the companion book to the tarot deck of the same name. I'm not any sort of extreme feminist, and I don't prefer the same sex, but I do rejoice in being a woman.

With that said, I must confess that I found the whole thing to be demeaning towards men. It's understandable, but it was just too much. The book should have been explaining symbolism on the cards or gone into more depth with the interpretations, but instead it was complaining about how much women have been oppressed. This is not something that is denied, but things could have been explained better in relation to the deck.

Of course, I do think that the book is an invaluable asset for use with the deck, and I do think it is all amazingly positive for women. This makes its attitude for men pretty forgiveable. With all of the patriarchal influences in tarot, it's refreshing to have a beautiful set to work with. There are some other feminist decks other women may be more comfortable with, such as the Tarot of the Old Path. I own both and find them both to be insightful.
