Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com Review

Coffee table books are too often like today's movies: grandiose ideas as shallow as they are big. Yet despite its "high concept," this volume delivers beyond expectations. Jayne Wexler's photographs of mothers and daughters, like Lauren Cowen's words, are warm and personable; you really get to know the women pictured and profiled in these pages. Cartoonist Lynn Johnston, entertainer Eartha Kitt, and former Texas governor Ann Richards are among the celebrity moms who talk about their offspring in candid and amusing interviews, though most of the 30 families are everyday folks who could live next door.

About the Author

Jayne Wexler is an acclaimed portrait photographer whose work has been featured in Esquire, Vibe, and Vanity Fair.

This inspirational book about strong, loving women describes the caring and giving between daughters and mothers. The wonderful photos and rich stories make me thankful for my own particular roots. My mom gave this book to me and I will always treasure it. A lovely piece.

4.0 out of 5 stars Daughters & Mothers, December 7, 1999
This review is from: Daughters and Mothers (Hardcover)
Such a wonderful, heart-warming book of the relationships between daughters and their mothers. I have two sisters that adore their mother and after seeing this book, my mother started to cry. You can see it in the eyes of the characters. Great photos and story telling!

The stories in Daughters & Mothers are heart-warming, thoughtful, inspirational and educational. And, the photographs are amazing, too! This book was given to me as a gift, and I have enjoyed reading the stories time and again.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! It's a great gift to give!

P.S. Check out Girlfriends, also by Jayne Wexler and Lauren Cowen. It's even better!
