This review is from: Daughters of Utopia (Paperback)
Author Moss Krupnick's fast-moving adventure story is about strong women, black belt karate, a Utopian nature retreat, and an insular upstate New York community. Initially drawn to reading it because of the backcountry wilderness setting so attractive in these stressful times, DAUGHTERS OF UTOPIA kept me up late into the night reading. I had fully intended to read just a chapter or so - however I quickly became drawn into the threads of these women's lives. The serious clandestine nature of the group's activities thoroughly mixed so well with well-drawn fun characters and great stretches of humor brings to mind Edward Abbey's Monkey Wrench Gang (1975) and other titles. This is a novel that touches us all at some point in our lives .... or someone we know and care about. I hope to see more from this promising author. |
