5.0 out of 5 stars Daughters' Masterpiece, March 16, 2010
By
This review is from: Daughters (Audio CD)
Daughters is one of the most unique and genre-pushing bands out today. From the short, crazy behemoth that was Canada Songs, to their latest self-titled, Daughters continue to push the boundaries. Their newest is without a doubt, their masterpiece. I don't know if I like it more than Hell Songs, one of my all time favorites.(I think I do). But I can tell that this is the album that they were made to make.

What a wild and fantastic album this is. The songs are ,obviously, longer; and employing signs of "actual" songwriting. But the music itself is their most complex to date, even using handclaps and synths in the coda. It almost feels claustrophobic, there is so much going on in the songs. Also, they've added(for lack of a better word) a static-y sound to the top of the mixing. S/T is definitely Daughters' metal album.

I wish this album had come sooner than it did; I just love it. Definitely go out and buy it today, and help support one of the best and hardest working bands in the music scene.

Long Live Daughters 6/5 stars

5.0 out of 5 stars The most interesting Daughter's album yet, March 9, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Daughters (MP3 Download)
This is easily the best Daughters yet. The variety across the album is really astounding, ranging from tracks that are musically reminiscent of their much older songs (The Virgin), while some are stay closer to the Hell Songs Rock and Roll territory (the Theatre Goer). Daughters continues to experiment and take their music in unexpected and exciting new directs. I wish more bands had the balls to do albums like this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderfully weird, March 25, 2010
This review is from: Daughters (Audio CD)
Weird, experimental, brutal, creative, instrumentally amazing, extremely catchy and fun to listen to. Crushing riffs, pounding drumming. Vocals that sound like Elvis on acid. An easy five stars. Recommended to whoever enjoyed Hell Songs, or anyone who enjoys new music, really.

5.0 out of 5 stars Heavy & Rock'n Noise, March 13, 2010
This review is from: Daughters (Audio CD)
I heard Daughters earlier releases, I didnt really dig them, though they were not bad. I guess there was too much mathcore, though I dont mind mathcore, or it wasnt ''heavy'' sounding enough for me. And the heaviness I tend to look for in metal bands is like a thundering bass sound. And ohh man, Daughters self titled, theres pleanty of an explosive bass sound. Honestly this is one of the heaviest albums I think I ever listen too. Like for heaviness I go for bands such as Godflesh, Meshuggah, Torche, Ahab, Gojira and the list goes on, but this release is up there with those colossal and thunderous sounding bands. From what I heard from their earlier release's, they still have their mathcore sound, but with heavy rock influences too, like a very catchy rock sound. I love the vocals. It reminds me of Glenn Danzig or a punk/hardcore sounding Elvis haha. I have to blast this album whenever I listen to it, it's total ear candy for me.
