Book Description

April 24, 2007
Dave Barry needs no introduction-after all, his Pulitzer Prize-winning and hysterical observations about daily life have been published in over 500 newspapers and 25 books. Now, he turns his attention to a species he knows intimately-dads. Dave famously recalls the moment he became a father: he chose to stand at the “head end” during the procedure because he assumed it would be more pleasant, but he quickly found that the “head end” was in a very bad mood and, unbelievably, seemed particularly annoyed at him! Now he’s learned a few things about being a dad and all the manly wisdom is here for the taking. The lucky dad who gets this as a Father’s Day gift won’t have to pretend to like it.

More About the Author

The New York Times has pronounced Dave Barry "the funniest man in America." But of course that could have been on a slow news day when there wasn't much else fit to print. True, his bestselling collections of columns are legendary, but it is his wholly original books that reveal him as an American icon. Dave Barry Slept Here was his version of American history. Dave Barry Does Japan was a contribution to international peace and understanding from which Japan has not yet fully recovered. Dave Barry's Complete Guide to Guys is among the best-read volumes in rehab centers and prisons. Raised in a suburb of New York, educated in a suburb of Philadelphia, he lives now in a suburb of Miami. He is not, as he often puts it so poetically, making this up.

1.0 out of 5 stars A Book?, May 30, 2007

This review is from: Dave Barry on Dads (Hardcover)
I enjoy reading Dave Barry, so I thought I would order his new "book?"..."Dave Barry on Dads". I received it yesterday and was through reading it in less than 30 minutes. The content was typical Dave Barry humor which was good; but the so-called "book" measured about 3" by 3" and had 127 pages. I was extremely disappointed that I paid $8.94 including s/h for what could have been a 20 page or less normal book. I believe calling this a "book" is a little questionable. Now you know what you're paying for if you order one.

1.0 out of 5 stars This is No Book, July 9, 2007
This review is from: Dave Barry on Dads (Hardcover)
I own all of Dave Barry's books and have enjoyed nearly every one of them. However, calling "Dave Barry On Dads" a book is going beyond reality. The "book" is less than 3" x 3" and could probably be entirely written on 10 pages of a regular sized book. I view this book as a total joke to the publishing world and a slap in the face to us Dave Barry fans.

1.0 out of 5 stars funny but miniature, May 15, 2009

This review is from: Dave Barry on Dads (Hardcover)
I have spent years enjoying every book that Dave Barry's has written. I ordered this because I had never seen it anywhere. When I received the book I was disappointed to discover the reason... it is an extremely miniature novelty publication .. much smaller than the smallest mobile phone. As always, this volume contains some funny material, but unless you are an ultralight backpacker you might want to consider Mr. Barry's more substantial works. ..... "Dave Barry's Bad Habits" or "Dave Barry Slept Here" among many others are worth their weight in gold.
