Dave Lieber, as a columnist and author, is the guardian for those of us who never have enough time in a day to figure out who to call when problem situations exist.

Lieber's book provides seven techniques to drill down on that search. He provides vivid examples like Doug Black who almost got taken.


Watchdog Nation: Bite Back is a street smart book for the 21st century. My copy sits on the coffee table next to my Seth Godin books. What Seth does for SEO, Dave does for common sense best practices.

Having worked with the elderly population for the past 35 years, I know this book could have solved many problems long before the scammers got their money. The irony is that we are all potential victims, no matter our age. So think beyond buying and giving this book to just your grandmother! YOU need to read it; then you will be convinced of the wealth of information and can then share it with all your friends and family for their protection. I first bought the book because I was familiar with the writing of Mr.Lieber, having subscribed to the Fort Worth Star Telegram for years. He is a talented, informed writer and this subject was just too important not to investigate. The author and the subject are too good a combination, so I could not pass on this book: Lieber and Watchdog! Now I Am My Own Watchdog. Be sure to get the 2010 Edition, Revised and Expanded, as it has the latest and greatest tips.

Dave Lieber has been a mainstay in Texas for many years......his columns are insightful, witty and relevant. This particular book is a wonderful tool for anybody who has ever felt scammed, taken, or ripped off. Its common sense solutions to everyday scams are incredibly helpful (and in most cases, incredibly simple). Dave is, regretably, a dying breed......a natural-born reporter, newspaperman and author with integrity and guts to spare. Here's hoping more of his type come along in the years ahead.

A self-help book? Not this one. This one actually GIVES you the kind of help you need to navigate a landmined world waiting to rip you off. Dave Lieber knows where all the landmines are and he tells you where they are, too. You'll be a lot smarter after you read this book. Really.

Dave Lieber is an amazing, compassionate writer who does his homework. If you have ever been scammed, if you are being scammed, or if you might be scammed in the future (100% of Americans would fit at least one of those categories!), this book is for you. And the 2010 edition is even better than what came before.

With his revised 2010 version, Dave Lieber walks us through specific solutions for modern scam-artist warfare. Not just a read-it-once novelty, but a year-round reference for scam detection extraordinaire. Love it, Dave!

The 2010 updated version is even better than my older one because it has information on how to avoid new scams. The scamsters are getting smarter every day, and we have to not only keep up with them, but stay ahead.

Lieber's guidance in how to avoid both previous and up-to-date rip-offs is invaluable, and well worth the price.
