This is a compilation of songs that DMB played while touring Europe in 2009. The only gripe I have is that they include a cardboard filler in the actual box. It is for another set that you can purchase but it didn't make any sense to me. Oh well, great band!

I recently downloaded the Lucca, Italy concert mp3s from Amazon, so I'm only reviewing that, as I haven't seen the London DVD.

I've listened to the entire show several times. It's a pretty good performance and was overall fairly enjoyable, so I give it 3 stars by DMB's high standards.


Strengths:

* good crowd - this is the second official live release to feature a fun, appreciative Southern European crowd (Live Trax #10 in Portugal being the other). I liked their energy.

* A few songs were quite good - "You Might Die Trying", "Cornbread", and "Dreaming Tree" stand out. I'll be enjoying these ones over and over.


Weaknesses:

* The overall performance was pretty good but the GrooGrux songs were some of the weaker material; they sounded flatter than other 2009 shows I have fan-taped copies of, such as 29 July and 5 August. This was disappointing since I bought this show for the new Grux songs, as this is currently the only official live release with them.

* They cut out the "Sexy MFer" outro from Jimi Thing. I can understand why they'd do this for an official release, but it's a fun outro and is definitely missed.

What's the point of advertising that the concert DVD was shot with 10 HD cameras if it isn't available in BluRay?

There's not much to say. It's been stated that they simply know what to do in live concerts, and this is just another proof.
Terrific energy, great versions of the new album songs, ..., and a must have!

Considering I have seen DMB 48 times and saw them start out in 1993 on the East Coast I am not your average fan.
I have been waiting 15 years to get a great LIOG on DVD, and am a huge fan of Jeff Coffin and what he does to #41...All the BW songs sound great; Always loved Dive In, think the outro is amazing...
With that being said the 4 bonus TRAX on the DVD are f"ing" incredible! Love Time Bomb and this is one of the sickest Two Steps ever recorded, Carter's drumming is beyond sick!!!
I also would have loved to see Tim's Stairway Interpolation during Watchtower... seems he started a few shows later...
If I were rating the dvd alone I would give it a "5"
If I were rating the CD alone I would give it a "1"; hate it, what a joke to charge $60 for this package and the same setlist is repeated except for 7 songs! (I don't count Rye Whiskey as one; as that is not much of a song)..
Why not give us Broxton N! on DVD instead of this crappy Lucca show???

All in all they should have just released the DVD separately and charged $!8 .. and also released a BluRay version...

One last point... the sound engineer did an amazing job ... Joe Lawlor...this is one of the best sounding DMB recordings released!

I just heard about this release, and was excited to buy it, but when I saw the price, I was stunned! I have been a DMB fan for many years, and have several of their CDs. I have never seen them charge this much for their music! Why start now?

I'm going to shop around for a discount. Hopefully, I can find a copy at a decent price!

I'm not really a Dave Matthews fan. I bought this as a gift for someone.I do think this set is a tad overpriced in the store so I was glad to find it slightly used at a lower price. I only played the DVD. It's shot well and the 5:1 surrond mix is pretty good. The booklet is nice as well. It's really up to the buyer to decide if it's worth the $40 to $65 vendors are asking.seems like Dave Matthew has been releasing a lot of overpriced items lately. 3 audio CD's & 1 DVD. If you're a fan you may love it. I'm not a real fan.

Okay. Dave has about a billion live releases. Sure , that is stretching it. With all the stuff available on his website , all the "store" released stuff , and other mediums , over 25 live releases are available. So what makes this one any different ? Nothing. It is simply another stunning document of a superb band puttin' on a show for their fans. Nothing wrong with that.
The thing that has always impressed me about The Matthews Band is that it truly is a band. Each member (and guest artist) adds significantly to the overall impact of the band. The songs are tight , and the performances are top-notch. Enjoy.

I was a little set back by the price on this.... but it's worth it. It's great quality. The DVD and cds are very alike but it still is worth it to have both. They pulled out some songs that alot of people might not have heard live, great album a good buy for any DMB fan
