Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Customization is key in Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2. In this release, players can create their own riders (or ride as BMX champ Dave Mirra, Ryan Nyquist, and others in an impressive posse of BMX pros), choose their own sponsors, and even design their own parks in which to complete a variety of challenges. As players progress through the game, they'll earn the respect of fellow riders. The ultimate, however, is to unseat Mirra himself as king of the BMX hill.

Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2 also supports up to 12 players and features 10 multiplayer games, including an extreme bikathalon competition. Also, the release includes eight additional game levels, and they're four times beefier than before. Tear and trick through a total of 11 levels with this edition. The game is completed by integrated traffic, including moving cars, trains, trucks, and even other riders and pedestrians.

The open trick system in Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2 holds more than 1,500 tricks and signature moves--many of them motion captured off Mirra himself. And a fitting soundtrack accompanies the game, featuring cuts from Ozzy Osbourne, Methods of Mayhem, the Cult, Godsmack, and others.

Note: This text refers to the PlayStation2 version of this game.

5.0 out of 5 stars ONE OF THE BEST XBOX GAMES, December 27, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2 (Video Game)
Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2 is one of the greatest Xbox games out on the market.
I am a skateboarder and I loved all of the Tony Hawk games.I purchased a Xbox and I heard that both Dave Mirra and Tony Hawk were great games.I spent hours trying to figure out which one to buy.I considered buying Tony Hawk more than Dave Mirra because I am a skater and not a BMXer.
I ended up getting Dave Mirra thinking that it would be better than Tony Hawk. Was I right?YES INDEED.
Dave Mirra has the best graphics,14 pros to choose from,a wonderful park editor, and 8 almost endless levels. The levels are so big that just one seems like the whole Tony Hawk game. The sound is also very clear.I wasn't that fond of the songs(I HATE ROCK),but I made my own soundtrack with the Xbox song ripper(very good feature).
In conclusion,THIS GAME IS THE BOMB! I am a hardcore skater and sometimes when I play this I forget all about skating and my mind just fills with BMX.

5.0 out of 5 stars A classic that will live on, July 25, 2005

= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2 (Video Game)
This game has big-time replayability. I've been playing this since like 2001. The moves are real but the height you can reach is exaggerated just enough to make it a good video game. The boards are pretty big and the game is set up for you to explore the entire level. The unlockable videos are pretty cool. I love the fact that I can listen to my own music while playing. My college roommate had the garbage PS2 version which had fewer boards and no personalized music. He would always ask to play my Xbox version.

This was better than BMX XXX because the graphics are more realistic and the size and scale is more consistent. The replay feature with the different camera angles gives you lots of control. I found Dave Mirra's time limits to be much more practical than BMX XXX's health limits, with certain objectives that require time. Dave Mirra gives you 3 min to do as much as you can. Finish the amateur challenges, then you get the pros, then the extreme, then the insane.

The gaps take a while to find, but that's kinda good because it makes you explore the map more.

There are very few problems with this game. There will be seldom glitches when your rider will get stuck behind a wall.

I find myself playing this game just to listen to my music.
