5.0 out of 5 stars ONE OF THE BEST XBOX GAMES
Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2 is one of the greatest Xbox games out on the market.
I am a skateboarder and I loved all of the Tony Hawk games.I purchased a Xbox and I heard that both Dave Mirra and Tony Hawk were great games.I spent hours trying to figure out which one to buy.I considered buying Tony Hawk more than Dave Mirra because I am a skater and not a BMXer...

3.0 out of 5 stars This is a good game at first.
This game is really fun at first but it got pretty boring pretty quick for me. There are plenty of tricks to do and plenty of places to ride. There ts also a park maker thing. Even that got boring very fast. I think this game is much better to rent than it is to buy unless you are a person who is really big on BMX stuff.

I ended up getting Dave Mirra thinking that it would be better than Tony Hawk. Was I right?YES INDEED.
Dave Mirra has the best graphics,14 pros to choose from,a wonderful park editor, and 8 almost endless levels. The levels are so big that just one seems like the whole Tony Hawk game. The sound is also very clear.I wasn't that fond of the songs(I HATE ROCK),but I made my own soundtrack with the Xbox song ripper(very good feature).
In conclusion,THIS GAME IS THE BOMB! I am a hardcore skater and sometimes when I play this I forget all about skating and my mind just fills with BMX.
GET THIS GAME!

5.0 out of 5 stars A classic that will live on, July 25, 2005

This game has big-time replayability. I've been playing this since like 2001. The moves are real but the height you can reach is exaggerated just enough to make it a good video game. The boards are pretty big and the game is set up for you to explore the entire level. The unlockable videos are pretty cool. I love the fact that I can listen to my own music while playing. My college roommate had the garbage PS2 version which had fewer boards and no personalized music. He would always ask to play my Xbox version.

This was better than BMX XXX because the graphics are more realistic and the size and scale is more consistent. The replay feature with the different camera angles gives you lots of control. I found Dave Mirra's time limits to be much more practical than BMX XXX's health limits, with certain objectives that require time. Dave Mirra gives you 3 min to do as much as you can. Finish the amateur challenges, then you get the pros, then the extreme, then the insane.

The gaps take a while to find, but that's kinda good because it makes you explore the map more.

There are very few problems with this game. There will be seldom glitches when your rider will get stuck behind a wall.

I find myself playing this game just to listen to my music.

Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2 is not as good as it should be. The music is good. Im a rock fan. But some cheap things are, oh say, the backflip to grind. No ones ever done it. There not insane, stupid or crazy enough. Also, there are plants in this video game that when you run over them, they crack like wood. Bottom line, stick to the THPS series.

3.0 out of 5 stars a bmx game with a good soundtrack, April 15, 2006

A good game within its own category considering its a extreme sports game. It joins the ranks of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, but does not live up to THPS standards.

However, the soundtrack is impressive enough to keep you somewhat entertained as you bike your way through the levels. It is a mediocre game but not of THPS quality so unless you have a passion for BMX then you should keep some distance from this game.

5.0 out of 5 stars this is the best in bmx games out there!, October 11, 2004

when i first received the demo of this "outstanding" game back in 2001, it was totally awesome. the tricks on this bike i could do were just, insane! doing backflips over trucks and high ledges, secret areas, the pain is real. it was just beyond belief. so later, that year i bought it; dave mirra freestyle bmx 2 for xbox. the stuff in that game, was just explosive and spectacular. the levels were huge, immense, and the goals were incredibly hard which is always good. the cheats were nice, and the gameplay is nice and smooth. although, i was a master at THPS, before i played this game, still it is overall fabulous. in multiplayer, where you try to outbeat the other guy in getting enough pain is awesome. create a park, that is phat; totally awesome. also the hidden characters are a riot. anywho, this is byfar one of the few best games for xbox. i'd totally recommend to any BMX or THPS fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dave Mirra Amazes Me Once Again, May 24, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2 (Video Game)
What is there to say about Dave Mirra 2? It adds much more depth to the already practically flawless trick system (see my review of the first Dave Mirra for PS). This time you can modify grinds and manuals. Manualing is also a lot better in this game. More levels (even some bonus ones for Xbox users). More goals. More competitions. Bad graphics. Great soundtrack with with Gang Starr, Rage Against the Machine, and Sublime. Awesome controls. Cool riders. Create-a-park. Customisable outfits. Months of fun gameplay. Enormous levels. Don't bother renting, go buy this game now!
