This guitar instructional video was cool because Dave is being Dave but he says in the video that he doesn't like instructional videos either. It's best to play with other people, I think. So, if you are into instructional videos I recommend this one. Good points & music. Chad Smith & Flea are in it too. Enjoy!

Dave teach everybody in this video how to play some of RHCP and, of course Jane's Addiction's songs.
But what you can really appreciate from this video is "how" Dave explain the way to play.
No perfect execution, no virtuoso style, just the right feeling between a person and his guitar.
More, you can learn how to use some cool stomp boxes, in Dave style or in your own, as you prefer.
An easy way to learn something more from one of he most influential guitarist between two millenniums.

This is an instructional video starring Dave Navarro guitarist from Jane's Addiction and a short stint in the Red Hot Chili Peppers. It was recorded during the short time he was in the Peppers and is irreverent and funny and in the end short of any real instructional value. In the first segments of the video Dave sits with a Fender Stratocaster and sunglasses on fielding questions from a host with a very dated 80's metal coif. Said host asks typical guitar instructional questions and is answered either by a flippant Dave response having very little to do with his question, Dave's humorous plays, or just rambling and scattershot playing until he shamefully fires another query off. Because Dave had just released "One Hot Minute" with the Peppers this video has a lot of musical references back to that record. Easily my fave Peppers record, but less than almost any recording that Dave has been involved in,period. (Back off Peppers fans, Frusciante and Hillel both are OK, but not the geniuses that you give them credit for being) He does go over the intro and rhythm parts on Jane's Ocean Size and portions of Mountain Song, but this doesn't feature any of Dave's acoustic work (one of his strong suits) other than him demonstrating his Parker Fly's piezo pickup while picking out "My Friends" from the aforementioned OHM. There are abridged performance clips of Dave jamming with the Peppers on things from OHM, but like Dave conveys at the end of the video, he doesn't believe that you should learn to play guitar from an instructional video. And he does a fine job of assuring that no one will by providing very little useful information. One star for Dave's amazing playing throughout...one star for the frivolity and irreverence...one star for the look at Dave's guitars, amps and pedal board...Read more ›
