5.0 out of 5 stars hardhitting common sense about debt and money, January 31, 2008
there is nothing new under the sun here. its hardhitting common sense here and really makes a point of showing how advertisers in this corporate culture have managed to warp and associate debt to wealth which could be nothing further from the truth. Dave pounds out point by point every facet of how you are taken in by sucker deals from credit companies and reframes ideas about how one should think about debt. nothing but hard work, saving, not spending on excesses, cutting corners etc. In spite of saying anyone with common sense would know it is good to hear Dave getting in your face about it - that alone watched once a month will save you money. It really made me realize how much money I was wasting on buying health destroying fast food and other meaningless expenses. if applied to the credit card debt I currently have it would really make me less of a slave to credit card bills. I would highly recommend this dvd to anyone as well as some of Dave Ramsey's other material. I feel he brings an important message to the majority of Americans who are racked with debt up to their necks. Thank you Dave Ramsey for presenting this timely and necessary material.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dave Ramsey is a funny guy . . ., June 27, 2009

Laloba (Planet Earth) - See all my reviews
He brings the fervor of a televangelist to his message, which is mainly, if you can't pay for it, right now, you can't have it.

His demeanor is that of a friend who is really interested in your welfare, but he is a straight shooter, and doesn't hold back about how he came to be the debt guru by way of bankruptcy.

And he isn't nasty about it like Larry Winget, You're Broke Because You Want to Be, People Are Idiots and I Can Prove It!: The 10 Ways You Are Sabotaging Yourself and How You Can Overcome Them, although their message is essentially the same: Credit is not a tool like you've been told most of your adult life, it is a trap.

I'd recommend any of Dave Ramsey's products: The Total Money Makeover: A Proven Plan for Financial Fitness or The Financial Peace Planner: A Step-by-Step Guide to Restoring Your Family's Financial Health, but he's more fun to watch!

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Fantastic, February 20, 2009

This review is from: Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace: Dumping Debt DVD (DVD)
This is by far the most life-changing, myth-busting tutorial on debt you will ever view. This is not a game! This is life, and life does NOT take Visa. It takes hard work, planning and FREEDOM. We're in the FPU class and for the first time in our lives feel we have the backing to tackle debt head-on, with no-nonsense, loving instruction. I laughed til I cried at the cheetah-gazelle example. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND taking the whole series.
