5.0 out of 5 stars Better than you remember
I own several of these episodes on previous DVD releases that were not remastered, and I have to say the difference is astounding! Almost all the film blemishes have been removed and the colors are much more pronounced in this remastered edition. Definitely worth purchasing even if you have the earlier DVD or VHS editions. These prints are much better than what was...

3.0 out of 5 stars More technical Insight / Show Overview
(Review is on Disc one) Video quality is 3.5 out of 5 even on a 65" inch TV. Very little distortion and prints look fairly decent. Audio on the first episode is atrocious..so bad that after choosing every single option on my amplifier from Prologic to Mono it was about 25% undecipherable making it worthless. Episode two had some improvement and so did the remaining...

5.0 out of 5 stars As terrific and ever!, June 10, 2005
This review is from: Davey and Goliath, Vol. 1 (DVD)
These timeless episodes of Davey and Goliath are terrific! The films are simply as joyful as when they were first produced. The Davey and Goliath series brings with it wonderful lessons of learning, understanding and forgiveness in an exciting and refreshingly entertaining manner.

The Davey and Goliath series is not only religious as many may believe, however, for children and adults of all ages a means of better appreciating the world around us, and memories of simpler, family times.

These restored films, "The Kite", "To The Rescue", "Finders Keeper", "Stranded on an Island", and "Blind Man's Bluff", are as educational today as they were in the 60's and 70's!

Bought this for my wife who is a huge fan of D & G. She loved it! The extras were entertaining and informative. I only hope future DVDs are relased with more than 4 episodes per disc. The episodes are only 15 minutes long.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful Gift For Any Child, December 14, 2005
This review is from: Davey and Goliath, Vol. 1 (DVD)
I was never familiar with "Davey and Goliath." In fact, until this first volume came out, I never even knew it existed. One day, while searching for a good DVD for my daughter, I decided to give this a try. What I found was one of the best children's shows around. "Davey and Goliath" are, simply put, two of the best characters you could ever introduce your child to. This particular volume features four classic episodes and one bonus story. The four fifteen minute episodes are: The Kite, Finders Keepers, Blind Man's Bluff, and Stranded On An Island. "To The Rescue" is the special thirty minute bonus story. Also included is "Oh, Davey!" which is a retrospective look back at the making of and the influence of the characters and the stories.

Produced by the Lutheran Church in America between 1962 and 1975 and the creators of "Gumby," this series about a young boy and his dog live life by standards set by God. This Christian based TV series is well worth viewing, no matter what your religion. Personally, I'm a Catholic, and I see nothing wrong with the moral values young Davey and Goliath teach children. You see the consequences of doing wrong things like telling lies, stealing, and not sharing. "Blind Man's Bluff" takes on the very serious issue of racism.

Unfortunately, a series such as this would find it hard to be placed on television these days for the simple fact that our society has become so caught up in not offending anyone. How dare you teach Christian morals and values to children! Watch this wonderful DVD with your children and be prepared to handle any questions the stories may generate.

Simply wonderful and recommended to anyone who wants their child to grow up with strong morals and values.

5.0 out of 5 stars A nastalgic trip back in time, on Sunday mornings, April 20, 2006
By
This review is from: Davey and Goliath, Vol. 1 (DVD)
This kids show aired every Sunday morning, after Jot went off. These were the only shows, or television we were allowed to watch on Sunday's, back then, as kids.

I remember being fascinated, as any 8-year old would be, by the clay-mation [technology??] effects in producing this show. In fact, nearly every kid I attended church or Sunday school with watched this show, religiously (no pun intended).

I am thrilled that nostalgic children's shows like this have been revived, and are now available on modern DVD for home viewing. Since I have not seen the classic episode's anywhere on broadcast, cable, or scrambler television.

5.0 out of 5 stars Old school and great, March 11, 2006
This review is from: Davey and Goliath, Vol. 1 (DVD)
These DVDs are great, they have really good lessons and are CALM! My son loves to watch them, as soon as one ends he says "more". Its so hard to find calm cartoons for kids that dont have some type of "dirty" joking or violence. These are the old school cartoons that we used to watch as kids. I highly recommend them. I think people will be surprised what their kids will watch. I am going to order the next series for his nect birthday.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Good, October 30, 2005
This review is from: Davey and Goliath, Vol. 1 (DVD)
I loved the 4 episodes. The morals to the stories are better that I remembered. The first episode was very faint in sound, though. I had to turn the volume all the way up to hear it. The other episodes sounded fine. I also ordered the Holiday pack, can't wait to see it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Timeless lessons...., October 28, 2005

even sitting through these with your children is enjoyable for adults.

Recently, our local radio station announced that "The Three Little Pigs" fairy tale is being removed from our public schools; deemed "offensive" to Muslim students.

Times have changed dramatically, and these DVDs bring you back to a time where the world was not afraid of moral boundaries, kindness, being good neighbors, and speaking of faith.

We have violent video games, R movies, and morally deficient textbooks. The result? our prisons and juvenile halls are overflowing.

This is a wonderful opportunity for parents to turn back the clock and bring to their children lessons that are outside the boundaries of time and culture.

5.0 out of 5 stars Memories, March 27, 2007
This review is from: Davey and Goliath, Vol. 1 (DVD)

I grew up watching Davey and Goliath. I actually looked forward to sunday morings at 7am when they aired. Now in my late 40's it brought back many fond memories of watching these with my family. Sound quality is ok , picture quality is improved and I'm sure just watching these classic episodes again will be all that matters. I enjoyed them so much I'm watching them again for the second time in a month.

The good old days...
