This review is from: David Alexander: Mr. Hard (Paperback)
I found Mr Big and Mr Long at TLA Video purchase both of them from TLA Video and found the Men and Boys in those books where done better than what I found in Mr Hard. Even thou it is a three book series I liked the other two books better than this one. In this book there are pictures of Items that are for ordering some of the pictures back when. I would have preferred more pictures and of younger guys not all made up in cowboy hats, macrame shirts and pants, Etc.

an oral dream,
This review is from: David Alexander: Mr. Hard (Paperback)
Although now dated, this book powerfully immortalizes and glorifies each masculine black model. With a flip of each page I can intimately imagine kneeling before them, feeling the power of their strong hands behind my head and the thrust of their manhood deep inside me as I look up into their beautiful eyes. Thank you, Janssen for the memories.

Variations on Vintage,

This review is from: David Alexander: Mr. Hard (Paperback)
I recently became interested in vintage homo-erotic photography, which led me to this collection of David Alexander's 1970s photos of African-American men. Like most vintage photography, the appeal of these photos is the "naturalness" of the men before the forces of consumer capitalism and gay identity politics converged to create the sterilized, emasculated and fetish-driven images and sensibilities of most contemporary male erotica and current gay culture. This collection, however, was a bit disappointing in some ways.
My main reservation is about the production values of this book. I know from looking at other recent re-issues of photos from this era that the images could have been re-mastered much better than they are. Perhaps this would have increased the price of this book beyond what the publishers thought the market would bear; but I personally was mildly disappointed by the washed-out quality of some of these images. I would still recommend this book to those with a interest in vintage erotica, but there are better products out there that you may want to check out first.
