5.0 out of 5 stars Even if you're not from Dallas, Texas, this CD sizzles!
This CD is one of the top ten you will ever own. Whether you are just sitting back chowing down on some BBQ ribs from Dickey's, or driving in your car from Dallas to Boston, this music is the stuff that will keep you going. It's one toe-tapping, Billy Bob's honkytonk experience!

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
This CD is, in a word, disappointing. I bought it hoping to hear DAC sing some of his best with the same heart and grit that I remember from his old vinyl versions from the late '70s. Instead, what I got was something that sounded less like the Outlaw I remembered and more like what I hear from my kids' favorite singer, Raffi. Don't get me wrong, DAC does a good job;...

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, January 31, 2003

This review is from: David Allan Coe - 20 Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
This CD is, in a word, disappointing. I bought it hoping to hear DAC sing some of his best with the same heart and grit that I remember from his old vinyl versions from the late '70s. Instead, what I got was something that sounded less like the Outlaw I remembered and more like what I hear from my kids' favorite singer, Raffi. Don't get me wrong, DAC does a good job; but his heart and soul appear to have gone as smooth as the Tennessee Whiskey he croons about. It's almost like he has sung these songs so many times that he is tired of cranking it up and just wants to lay back and relax. My advice: If you are going to buy DAC for the sake of old times, you'd better pick one of his older compilations.

5.0 out of 5 stars A WONDERFUL CD!, August 16, 2004
This review is from: David Allan Coe - 20 Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
This is a very good disc! One previous reviewer didn't like it because they said it sounded too smooth, but I don't mind smooth music as long as it's good. Coe is a unique performer who can deliver raw (check out the Iron Horse Saloon disc),smooth, sentimental, or rough stuff and if you accept him as a versatile performer you'll enjoy this. I especially loved the bluesy renditon of House Of The Rising Sun!

4.0 out of 5 stars Unexpected, July 21, 2010
This review is from: David Allan Coe - 20 Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
I bought this CD 2nd hand to hopefully find the extnded version of "The Ride" (where he rambles on about Nashville being filled with competition these days). Instead, much to my delight, I found this treasure trove of songs. None of these songs are studio recordings as originally released; they are all either recorded especially for this compilation or are out-takes and covers. The band is playing real tight but it is as if someone sat DAC down with a songbook and he went through it song by song. I really enjoyed the Merle Haggard covers. His take on Garth Brooks' song is masterful. Buy this CD if for no other reason than to have a unique version of his hits that none of your friends will likely posess.

5.0 out of 5 stars DAC for President, November 11, 2000

David Allan Coe is the backbone to country music. His songs are great, but some of them are not for the faint of heart. This album is great for everyone though. Truly a must have for any redneck hill billy country folk.

5.0 out of 5 stars Make this one a double, DAC's on the Juke Box, November 23, 1999
This review is from: David Allan Coe - 20 Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
Normally, anything remotely like country music sends me running for the hills. There are a few exceptions, though. David Allen Coe is one of those exceptions. This is one of the best drinking records of all time. Everytime I hear DAC it takes me back to my college days, sitting in the local dive bar drinking $1.50 pints until 2 am. If you like Merle Haggard, or Waylon Jennings, or even Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson, David Allen Coe is an essential in your CD collection.
