I saw David Burnham in The Light in the Piazza last week and bought his CD that night. After listening to it, I immediately decided to buy it for my friends and family members who enjoy theatre music. I highly recommend this CD and if you have a chance to catch him live, do that, too. Some theatre stars are great in person, but don't do well in the recording studio. If you like any of the songs in this CD, buy it now, you won't be disappointed.

I've seen David in Light in the Piazza twice now. He blew me away by his performance as Fabrizio. I knew that I had to get his first solo album when it came out. I listened to all the song samples yesterday and knew that I had to get it asap. It's simply BEAUTIFUL!!! I think it's one of the best if not the best theatre actor/actresses solo album that I've ever bought!
The way his voice just glides over the notes along with the feeling/compassion he puts into the songs is simply heaven! I'm glad that cds can't wear out like tapes because this album will be getting a lot of playing time. I can't get enough of it! I too wish it was a little bit longer of an album! He's definitely one to watch in the future. I can hardly wait for his second album to come out someday!!

"Moon River"-simply gorgeous. I've never heard it sung so softly & gently but not lacking power either!

"Someone to Fall Back On"- another song beautifully sung! You hear the emotion he feels as he sings this song.

"As Long as You're Mine"-I'm not a Wicked fan at all but I do like this song a lot though.

"Gypsy in my Soul" is a great jazzy number. I love that he did a jazz type song. This song reminds me of some of the songs that were done in the big band era doing World War II. It's a great number to dance to if I could dance anyway. lol I see myself dancing to it in my head.

"Muddy Water"- I never got a chance to see Big River when it played in my area but I do like this song. I love the harmony on this duet. David's harmony part is great.

"Flight"- I've never heard of this song before let alone hear anyone sing it. It just makes me want to float on a cloud. Once again another song full of compassion/feeling.

"Love to Me"-Simply beautiful! Kind of strange not to hear it with a fake Italian accent. His voice just soars through this song. He portrays love as "Fabrizio" for his "Clara" with this song.

"Maria"-you get to hear the lower range of his voice on this song. I love how it ends on a high note sung softly but yet beautifully.

"I Wish I Were in Love Again" is another great jazzy number. I love the bass on it! I'm dancing in my mind again. It's got a great beat to dance in someone's kitchen or living room to.

"A Dream is a Wish that Your Heart Makes"-nice rendition of this song. Sung softly and kind of jazzy too.

"Close Every Door"-one of my favorite songs from Joseph. I love what he does with it at the end with the high notes. I'd never heard it sung this high before and it works perfectly with his voice!

"The Prayer"-my most favorite song on this album! The duet with Elena is simply superb! The way he sings in Italian is just breath taking. This song I think is the most beautiful song on this album!

"Smile"-again another song soft so gently, full of feeling, compassion. Pure heaven.

Run don't walk to get this album! It's worth every dime you spend on it! Great album David!!

David Burnham's Debut CD is truly astounding. He has on this disc such a plethora of song choices...something for everyone...and his artistic talent will move you into the next millineum and beyond!

"Moon River" - So soft....I love how so many artists can and do sing this tune, but for me...David's rendition was the most serene I have ever heard. Simply breathtaking...this is how you start a great CD...a great ballad with freshness in it's meaning...Bravo David!

"Someone To Fall Back On" was entrancing....If David is the words he sings, he is a Prince! This song brought me to tears from the sheer emotion.....unbelievable in presentation...stirring to your soul!

"As Long As Your Mine" from the show "Wicked" ....David you can put all of us under your spell...the range and love you sing with melts hearts....Just for this moment....I understand the depth of how words and music combined with your voice can bring to all of us a deep sense of love and wonder....how do you do this?

"Gypsy In My Soul" - How I LOVE this song....fun, fast, and a toe tapping song everyone will adore...the range....wicked ending...and that laugh at the end...how can you not smile listening to David sing? He brings wonder and amazement to every syllable...

"Muddy Water" was a welcome surprise....How I enjoyed this song!

"Flight" - On this CD, you will hear a song not every artist can sing and bring meaning to...not everyone can perform this song and do it justice....and David...you belong in the Elite group of artists who speak to us through the emotions of this song...So beautiful, breathtaking and soft....This is by far a song that should...could...WILL put you on the map to the outer stratosphere....Your words and presentation transport me to another time...thank you for the journey....UNBELIEVABLE!

"Love To Me" - If this song is any indication of how great "Light in the Piazza" is.....I MUST SEE THE SHOW....This song truly is love to me...the most beautiful song...it may be a short song, but it holds feelings of longing and hope....David you are amazing! BRAVO!!!!!!!!! I just want to throw roses to you...:)

"Maria" - This rendition with David's voice...how you will feel the love coming out of this man to speak to each and every one of us....David lives the song...he makes you believe....never stop saying Maria!!!!!!!!!

"I Wish I Were In Love Again" - 1,2,3,4....and I'm dancing in my seat listening to this one....It's that voice...remarkable! I love the range at the end....so enjoyable to hear...

"When You Wish Upon a Star/A Dream Your Heart Makes" - This ballad has so much feeling partnered with your vocals...you make the words come alive, yet it is the one I want to go to sleep by....it is happy, serene and meaningful....you make me cry while at the same time I'm smiling listening to the words....your voice is like velvet....I don't know any other artist who can give me goosebumps from this song...beginning to end you have a masterpiece....How I love your voice!

"Close Every Door" - Stunning track...This man is perfect in voice and range...I am shocked from the overall presentation....unreal and amazing, truly a work of art....you simply must hear the words to understand the magic...

"The Prayer" - It may be difficult to convey what this song means to me...I have never heard a more lovely song presented by a singer....Your Italian is breathtaking......not only do you sing this one with class...you make me want to learn the language just so I can sing with you. I count you among the GREATS after this song....SUPERB on so many levels....This man delivers....and is truly blessed with THE VOICE.....How can a man sound so perfect?

"Smile" - What a perfect song choice to end this disc....All of our hearts will break knowing this is the last song....David....if this disc is any indication of what lies ahead...get back in the studio!!!...how your public will adore and fall in love with your talent....we want more...so much more!!!!!!!!!

The most beautiful work I have heard in quite some time....David Burnham will no longer be a secret....this man will soon be the one you MUST witness first hand to understand how talented a singer can be...

David you are SPECTACULAR!!!....How happy your fans must be with your DEBUT CD...It is a winner...stunning job and you should be so proud of what you brought to each of us....and I'm sure we will all smile...I know I am right now..:)

Mr. Burnham played Fiyoro in "Wicked" on Broadway and was in the original cast of "Light in the Piazza" (6 2007 Tony Awards) before taking over the role of Fabrizio for the National tour. His debut solo album is not to be missed. His velvety smooth voice is enchanting and his vocal power will astound you. I purchased this after seeing David perform live at the Ford Ampitheatre in Los Angeles this summer where he brought down the house at a Steven Schwartz tribute orchestrated by the Upright Cabaret team. If you are a fan of musical theater, cabaret, and standards (his version of Henry Mancini's "Moon River" is enchanting), you owe it to yourself to discover David Burnham, who I understand was just recently in the studio recording his second solo project. I know I can't wait!

David Burnham is the most exciting young singer to come along in quite some time. This album compliments his incredible range as well as his unique takes on standards such as 'Moon River'. Someone once said to Barbra Streisand in the 60's at the Bon Soir where she was performing "you got dollar signs written all over you." The same applies here. David sings "Maria" from "West Side Story" with such intensity and prowess it almost blows you away! He skips an octave completely towards the end and the result is nothing short of fascinating! This album does not have the slightest flaw, nor will you regret purchasing it. There is a VERY bright future ahead for this man! Please make more......

I've been looking forward to this album ever since I first read about it, as I'm a big fan of Burnham. It was definately worth my purchase but my biggest complaint is that it's too short. At 45 minutes I feel as if I'm not getting enough David for my money! For the most part I really liked his song choice.

"Moon River" was a nice way to start it off with a standard and ease you into the album, and he sings it nicely though it's not revolutionary. Still it's a favorite of mine and I'm glad he covered it. He gave a nod to Jason Robert Brown in "Someone To Fall Back On" which was great. Lord knows I'm no fan of Wicked but I'm surprised by how much I enjoyed his duet with Eden Espinosa on "As Long As Your Mine". Out of context it's a really nice song to cover actually. I was indifferent to a fews tracks. "Gypsy in My Soul" was nice, but eh... "Muddy Water" sort of didn't fit with the context of the rest if the album but whatever. "Flight" was a highlight though. Of course being a huge fan of The Light in the Piazza I went gaga over "Love To Me" (which is beautiful even without the fake Italian accent). I loved his "Maria"! "I Wish I Were In Love Again" was just ok. It was nice but nothing brilliant. I have no idea why he decided to include some disney on there with "A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes" but it was actually a really nice touch. "Close Every Door" was another highlight that gave me chillds. I'm sort of conficted on "The Prayer". I'm not fond of the song. It's soooo overdone and it's not the best song to begin with. But how can I object to his duet with Elena Shaddow. "Smile" was a nice way to round out the album. Overall it was a great sampling of David's talents but I wish they'd thrown in another song or two.

When David Burnham sings with his magnificent voice, you feel as if he is singing to you and you alone. I love his CDs. I also purchased One Day, which I play everyday. I saw David in Cy Coleman's The Best Is Yet To Come four times! He is a wonderful performer and he is charismatic and charming. I can't wait for him to come to New York to perform again!

Newly discovered singer with a great voice. Well-chosen songs. We will be hearing a lot from this talented young man.

An absolutely stunning voice! I love most of the songs, not all would be my first pick, but overall the album is wonderful. A beautiful voice with an incredible range, depth, and power.
