Photoblogs have become a very important tool for advanced photographers and professionals who want to market their work, as well as a popular forum for casual photographers to share personal photos. "David Busch's Quick Snap Guide to Photoblogging with WordPress: An Instant Start-Up Manual for Creating and Promoting Your Own Photoblog" is a complete start to-finish guide on how to create a photoblog using WordPress, the most popular blogging software among photographers that allows you to create a blog site for free, hosted on WordPress.com. Editorial Reviews
Review
"It seems most photographers use WordPress to create their blogs and while I'm still using Apple's iWeb I plan to ultimately shift all of my content by using this book as a guide. Having a photoblog is a great way to share images and the stories behind them and the authors take you step by step from setting up a WordPress account to hosting options to design and implementation. The book's landscape orientation helps by keeping the amount of text on adjacent pages focused on a single topic while the excellent but small illustrations show what to expect as your blog takes shape from design to content to execution. David Busch's Quick Snap Guide to Photoblogging with WordPress is the best book on WordPress that's currently available." - Joe Farace, Shutterbug Magazine's Best Books of 2010: Digital Imaging

This review is from: David Busch's Quick Snap Guide to Photoblogging with WordPress: An Instant Start-Up Manual for Creating and Promoting Your Own Photoblog (Paperback)
If you are not myopic before starting at page 1 of this book, then any reader will be so shortly thereafter. Full screen's worth of information from the WordPress dashboard are repeatedly reproduced as images barely 2 inches in height. No full photograph reproduced in the book is any more than the same 2 inch "standard" size. (Only the chapter title pages will give you any relief - there the typography is huge; four or five words fill a full page ....) As a result, it's very hard to judge how a particular WordPress Theme and/or pictorial layout will actually look based upon the examples covered in the book. Moreover, there's no coverage dedicated to slideshows. The word "Slideshow" doesn't even appear in the index. Altogether very disappointing.

There appears to be a great deal of good information hiding in this book, but you will never see it. As another reviewer on this site has stated, this is one of the most poorly laid out books I've encountered. The illustrations are critical to understanding what the author is trying to teach, but they are so small that you cannot see them even with a magnifying glass. On one page, five screenshots occupy a page measuring 7.5 x 9". Even the largest screen shots measure only 3x4", and they are the exception. This is a real disappointment.
