Editorial Reviews

The crossroads of African American rhythms, microtonal harmonies, eastern melodic inflections and improv concepts. All the elements the Greater Boston area has to offer with Berklee as its base. New musical ideas are on the horizon.

Fuze delivers a real masterpiece with this one. Not surprised really, as David "Fuze" Fiuczynski is probably the most fascinating electric guitar player, composer, and musician out there these days. FUZE is number one in a field of one for sure! Planet Microjam is adventurous, playful, and thought provoking. And FUN too! To some ears this will be a bit too much at first, as is with much of microtonal music. BUT this will grow on you and expand your ears. This release is a great intro to the modern microtonal field, and differs somewhat from other microtonal works, in that this has a playfulness and humor within in healthy doses. Anyone interested in a variety of so called ethnic elements in their music will want to sample this, as all fans of Jack DeJohnette. If you are willing to let your ears grow, this is essential listening, esp. to guitar players. I cannot recommend this, or any of Fuzes other work, enough. FIVE STARS IS NOT ENOUGH!
