Don't despair....this is the same as "Legend",
By
This review is from: Against the Horde (Paperback)
This story is about Druss the legend. Part of the Drenai Saga. This was for Gemmell his breakthru novel. So if you can't find this edition....just buy the Title: Legend. It's the same book just a different title. And if you like it there is still plenty of books in the Drenai series. If you're a 'virgin' gemmell reader. Let me warn you. His books are addictive. The good news: he has written a lot of books. The bad news:Once you're a fan....it will not be enough. And before long you'll be hanging around bookstores yearning for his latest release. The good news:gemmell is a very productive writer.(without comprimising the quality) The Bad news: it's still not enough. So people be warned before you start on any of his books. because it's EXTREMELY addictive. Daniel Tan

Available under the title "Legend",
This review is from: Against the Horde (Paperback)
"Against the Horde" was the original US publication title for David Gemmell's first novel. In the UK it was published with the title "Legend" and is still available under that title.

This is an excellent book full of drama and intrigue. If you like to think and become involved wiht the characters then this is the book for you. It has an intricate plot that weaves together a wonderful tale of a group of characters that are all uniquely different. The old warrior Druss, legend of the past, comes out of retirement to battle against a horde of vicious barbarians from the north. He is badly outnumbered over 500 to 1 but will fight to the last man. This novel is a tear jerker at times and full of vicious savagry. I guarentee that you won't want to set it down and when you turn the last page you'll know that was one great novel. All I can say is that is my all tiem favorite novel and wil remain so forever. It has the mark of greatness.

I don't know about you guys but i can't seem to get enough of David Gemmell, or Waylander the Slayer. This book gives us one more adventure with Waylander and lets us experience all over again his ability to deal Death to all who oppose him.I thought that the book was very good reading and i especially liked the way that Gemmell ended it off. To all you other die hard fans out there keep on reading and harassing Gemmell to write more books. |
