One illustration makes this book unappealing,

David and Goliath is one of a series of Old Testament stories retold by Mary Auld. Unfortunately, Diana Mayo's last illustration in this book causes me to gasp in horror every time I look at it. Seeing David holding Goliath's severed head is too graphic for me. Thus, this is not a book I will share with children. It's too bad, because Auld's retelling of Jacob and Esau, another book in this series, is first rate, and I recommend it often.
