A Kid's Review

Well. Where do i even begin with this book. All i have to say is this book kicks major butt. Every song in this book is awesome and you get to learn them at you own pace. Yes, it took a long time for this item to finally be available due to back order, but it was well worth the wait. Theres a little of Eddie Van Halen and a little of Steve Vai, what more do you want "YANKEE ROSE, JUST LIKE PARADISE" and of course "DANCE THE NIGHT AWAY, UNCHAINED, AIN'T TALKIN BOUT LOVE AND HOT FOR TEACHER" from the man Edward Van Halen. Its really easy to get this stuff down, impress you'r friends. seriously you'd be a fool not to purchase this book. I think we're not suppost to comment on other reviews, but i have to add. Theres a review on the fact that the songs in this book we're done in Eb(Down 1/2 step)well, i'll tell you what. The genious that wrote that review doesen't know what he is talking about, of course Eddie's songs are gonna be 1/2 step down, because thats the way the man originally recorded these songs, so,whats that genious talking about? Almost all of Eddie's songs are 1/2 step down, sure you can play them in standard tuning, but its not the correct way, The original sound is in Eb (1/2 step down), besides not all songs are in Eb (1/2 step down)Steve Vai and/or David Lee Roth stuff are in standard tuning, cuz thats the way Steve recorded them, every guitarist has there own way of tuning. all of you guitar players out there know what im talking about, so don't let that throw you off, buy this item seriously you wont regret it. Also dont let this review throw you off, cuz its under kids review, i just diden't want my ID posted, im way over 18yr old.

If you're even remotely a fan of Diamond Dave, you need this book!

It's outstanding.

Hmmm, somebody here complained that everything was a 1/2 step down... Guess what, 99% of everthing that Dave did was a 1/2 step down... It fits HIS vocal range better. And OMG...like it's a major effort to tune to Eb! Get over it. (Or grab one of your guitars already tuned that way! Sheesh!)

If you like DLR, and you want to play some of his best...then by all means go ahead and grab this edition!

I'm not going to complain that it took 18 months from the time I ordered this for it to arrive. I'm not going to complain that about half of the songs on this are available elsewhere and I already have them. I AM going to complain that about half of the songs on this set are recorded in Eb. With no vocalist to accomodate, I can't think of any reason to record something in Eb. It's just annoying to have to retune to play one or two songs. Yes, I could keep one of my guitars tuned to Eb, but I could also just throw this book and cd away, and keep playing the old stuff I have, which is all recorded in Standard E tuning. Feh.
