5.0 out of 5 stars New Fan Thanking Original Fans
I've just finished watching Biker Boyz for the first time, after some encouragement from my brother's fiancee, and she and I couldn't wait to find out the name behind the voice of such a soulful song. We were so delighted when we located his name and songtitle through a search for the Biker Boyz soundtrack. Felt like we'd struck gold. At first listen of an online preview...

2.0 out of 5 stars David Ryan Harris
As much as I love David Ryan Harris, this CD just isn't that great. It sounds like he's still coming out of his formative stage. There's a reason he doesn't still sell this CD. Also, the CD I bought said Used --- Like New. Well the case was totally broken when it arrived. The CD wasn't even in the case and was fairly scratched, but it played fine. The condition was either...

At first listen of an online preview of his songs, I thought he sounded like Seal, but I quickly recognized the difference between the two. He combines crast lyrics with (beau)tiful music. I love his outspoken personality; He says whatever he feels. At any rate, our search continued when we wondered why we hadn't heard of him until now. By the way everything is listed on his official site, we thought he was a newfound artist who amazingly landed a spot on the Biker Boyz SdTrk. Now, we find that he's been out for a long time: as the leader of not one, but two hit groups. Such a huge relief to know better. Thank you fans who posted reviews on him. We've learned more from you all, than we have from our Google Search.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic, August 21, 2006

When I first got this album, I honestly couldn't really listen to anything else for about a month. The melodies and song structure were first to get me, then the lyrics. David does a fantastic job of using imagery mixed w/ storytelling to get his point across. Nothing is spoonfed and you know exactly what he's talking about. Finally, there's the guitar playing. There's no flash, just brilliance. If you wonder, sit down with your guitar & learn the album. You'll be amazed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Harris rips the funkiest, jangled bunch of cuts this side of Funkadelic, June 15, 2006
This review is from: David Ryan Harris (Audio CD)
Hard to believe it's been fifteen years since a bunch of friends and I fell over in funk/rock delirium after watching Harris and his first band, Follow For Now, when they opened for 24-7 Spyz here in Portland. Unfortunately FFN only had one album in them; they were just a quick blip in the early '90's black rock movement, falling victim to changing trends in music.

Fortunately, even if it took him almost six years to do it, David Ryan Harris managed to parlay the death of his first band into the birth of this album...which for my buck is the most criminally overlooked funk/rock/soul album of the last ten years.

This is exactly what I would've hoped for from a Follow For Now sophomore effort: Harris's solo album is more sophisticated lyrically and musically; each cut is full of crunchy guitar work and bottom heavy bass, and Harris uses his soulful (if somewhat range-limited) voice to full effect. This CD didn't leave my car stereo for months, and is a staple on my iPod.

Frankly, there isn't a bad track on the disk. Except for maybe one -- the folksy-rocker Six Feet Off The Ground sounds like it was recorded for a completely different album. And maybe it was, since it was probably one of the BEST songs on Harris' next - and I think, weak (read, 'radio friendly') effort, the Brand New Immortals album, Tragic Show.

5.0 out of 5 stars Miss the old Love the new, February 8, 2000
This review is from: David Ryan Harris (Audio CD)
I remember the energy of Follow For Now and what a great writer and performer David was in front of them. David, in my mind, has moved to a new level of himself and what a beautiful result we have of it. This album is a must own for Funk, Soul, Rock, and great music fans alike. I also look forward to his new projects this year.

4.0 out of 5 stars Early solo work by the singer from Brand New Immortals, April 26, 2003

This review is from: David Ryan Harris (Audio CD)
Had to do quite a bit of hunting to find this CD. Harris more than proved his talent as frontman for Brand New Immortals and their sole (to date) full-length CD "Tragic Show." Included on this solo CD is an earlier version of "If I Had A Dime", a song slightly improved upon on "Tragic Show."
But his voice is so elegant and soulful that he would be almost any rock band's dream lead singer.
The material on this CD is solid throughout, though perhaps without any real slam-dunk tunes. For those, check out "Tragic Show."

I am extremely happy with the rapid delivery of the product. It was even faster than the delivery date given. And when the product arrived it was in mint condition. I would and have recommended this company to anyone who wanted to buy used CD's online.

The condition was either misleading or it was shipped crappy. Either way it's the sellers fault.

5.0 out of 5 stars Makes My All Time Top Three List!, February 17, 2007
This review is from: David Ryan Harris (Audio CD)
David Ryan Harris's solo debut is one of my all-time favorite three records, and I'm not even convinced of what the other two would be! David is a gifted songwriter with blessed vocals, and it's a shame that enough people did not know about this record. "If I Had a Dime" is otherworldly, in my opinion, and the rest of this CD is amazing in its breadth. If you like Jeff Buckley, Nick Drake, and/or XTC, you may be pleasantly surprised. If you're a music lover, give David Ryan Harris a closer look.

4.0 out of 5 stars Too Good To Be Slept On, July 9, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: David Ryan Harris (Audio CD)
It's certainly too bad that not enough people know about David Harris' first solo effort. The music and lyrics are well produced and aren't the same run of the mill drivel that is being produced nowadays.

Those who knew David from Follow For Now will miss the hard driving guitars and general music to stage-dive by (I know I do) but David shows a mature side that will impress even those who are missing that aspect of the music.

I certainly enjoyed this CD and only wish that more across the country knew of this musical diamond in the rough.
