5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome
I just bought the play today and sat down to watch it tonight, and I liked to shed a few tears at the end; It goes like this: you have this drug dealer, Satin Jones(Clifton Powell),whose bar sits right next door to a church; his underling becomes too ambitious and threatens to take over the church; the pastor is already gunned down in a confrontation with them; and Satin...

2.0 out of 5 stars Rent if you want to see, not a collectors item
These plays were okay, I'm glad I rented them before buying them. The props and things were very nice, the actors didn't gel well with each other or connect with their characters and the singing was mediocre ( definitely no Tyler Perry quality on that note) but the messages were good just seemed a little unrealistic and too drawn out. I thought Alexander O'Neal sang in...

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, August 11, 2006
I just bought the play today and sat down to watch it tonight, and I liked to shed a few tears at the end; It goes like this: you have this drug dealer, Satin Jones(Clifton Powell),whose bar sits right next door to a church; his underling becomes too ambitious and threatens to take over the church; the pastor is already gunned down in a confrontation with them; and Satin is ready to close in on the property of the church next door to "expand" his territory; when he asks his people to wait on this, his associate,in direct opposition to what Satin said, goes to the church, terrorizes the members and beats up the new preacher; despite of all of this, the church presses on and even a love thing goes on between the preacher and one of the members; The ending of the play is the absolute best and will make you want to cry; What I learned most out of this play is that no matter how things may look or seem, things can go up after being down. Recommended viewing. One more thing, I started watching David Talbert before getting in on Tyler; I won't compare but I will say that I thank God for the both of them and that there is room for them both;

4.0 out of 5 stars Play with a Message, June 25, 2006

I enjoyed this play; I showed this play to some of my friends and they all said David Talbert is no Tyler Perry. No he is not, he is writing stage plays with a message! I liked the fact that he showed the Pastor giving up his life for the Lord. Also, the Deacon felt that he should be next in line for pastorial duties, but the members felt he was not qualified. They began interviewing ministers and just when they were about to give up hope in walks this young minister packing a powerful punch. The play toggles back and forth between good and evil. Clifton Powell was great in this play as one of the forces of evil. When the walls began to fall down in his life, he gives up the right for the wrong. The singing in this play was fantastic and the acting was great.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent & Realist, June 19, 2007
I truly loved this stage play by David Talbert. I found it to be true also in the real world. It showed the side of the drug life. All that's glitter is truly not gold. On the christian side we sometimes judge people according to the past life that they lived feeling it's just another con-job for them. I know it's hard to forget, but sometimes even harder to forgive. This play of David Talbert showed both side of the coin and with all the humor, the tears, and yes a lesson to be learned. Please check this stage play out and than view all David Talbert's Excellent work you will not be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Play, July 5, 2007
The casting for this play was very well done. The message was clear enough for even a younger viewer to understand, and the singing was absolutely wonderful. The humor is more suttle than a Perry play, but it is very much a quality play.
