This review is from: David Tennant A Year In The Spotlight (1) (Kindle Edition)
Much as I like David Tennant I found this book very poorly written. It is boring in the extreme to read chronologically that on the first of January he did this and on the second he did that, etc. Also it included a lot of superfluous detail that I really did not care about. For example I don't care which location the Dr. Who company was shooting at on which day and which days David was not needed on set. What difference does it make to me?
This would have been a much better book if it had been organized by topic rather than date with one chapter about Dr. Who filming for the year, one about fan sites, one about Hamlet, one about other projects he was involved with, etc. And give us important details, incidents that happened during filming, his reaction to various things, not useless minutia. The reason I gave this three stars was mostly because of the coverage of his time in Hamlet and Love's Labour's Lost. Being that I am in the US I missed out on hearing a great deal of this. I only knew he had done it at all when the DVD was announced. So I enjoyed reading the reviews and hearing about how the show progressed over his time with it. I bought the kindle edition so I did not have the photographs so I cannot comment on those. Since the kindle price was only $2 I think I pretty much got what I paid for. |
